Help us make decisions about our club

Anyone else received an email questionnaire from MFC on our thoughts about our club? A lot of questions about the club emblem! And what excites us about MFC. The MFC shield is good but I would like to see the menacing Demon character back in the mix, on our away jumper. Are we going to be threatening or private school embracing? I said I was here because I was born into MFC allegiance, I have no choice. A rational football follower would have jumped ship years ago!

What's the general consensus about the club logo? I like it, never thought you could fit so many design elements into a logo cohesively.

So many other teams have atrocious logos. Adelaide, West Coast and Port spring to mind.

They are clearly thinking of changing it (again!), only a few years after it was introduced. I would have thought there were more important things to worry about. I'm fairly ambivalent about it, I prefer the demon logo we had in the 70s and 80s but I'm not desperate to change it. The key question for me is what words do you want to be associated with Melbourne in the future!!

SO they're clearly asking us about the big issues. Forget about how the team plays, what we think of the coaching situation, the board, whatever. We want a say in the club logo and what shade of red appears on the jumpers dammit!!!

A question on how the team plays and the coaching situation before the season has even begun..?

There are a range of questions as well as opportunity to offer your thoughts on such matters in free text.

But the survey is quite clearly trying to obtain information that will feed into branding and promotion. I welcome it, personally.

Thought the survey was fair, I really like the logo, always felt proud of the southern cross and reckon it makes sense to use it, better us that some white surpremacist nongs. Our logo and colours have evolved a bit over the years so it is pretty hard to put a finger on any one thing as original, allthough the monogram comes pretty close and would be an acceptable alternate. I've never been really sold on the various demon logos, it's been enough to be MELBOURNE! I am not ashamed of our heritage and as far as I reckon the logo captures most of it.

I didn't recieve an email yet..... but I really like the emblem all for having other demon style logos for merchandise etc but the emblem looks official and will stand the test of time (if we do with it) would be dissapointed to see it change again

I received mine yesterday.

A real marketing toy.

Especially at the end when asked if you would like to go into a draw to win a sign jumper by N.J. & J.G.

Tick yes then you agree to receive all the sponsors crap for another 12 months.

Set up gmail mailbox specifically, it is easy

Back on topic I like the emblem, because it is an emblem, like what they have done with the training tops as well

Think the demon should be restricted to streetwear you can buy, it's a mascot

It is a 'brand' survey, nothing more, nothing less. If you wish to comment about other issues just email/write to the club.

Yeah, the laws have changed so they are running out a few ways to get our agreement to the T&Cs to send us stuff.

And, yeah, its a brand survey but move on from the emblem. I just feel like this is a waste of time - we do this every few years, it upsets some people, others like it, and then we get used to it and do it all over again.

The footy over the next few years will define us, not some beefed up, 'fierce' Demon if that's what they are thinking...

I thought it was a good survey. Could you imagine the uproar if they changed the logos and branding of the club without asking the members? We would tear shreds off them.

Personally I would like to see more of the Demon in the branding and work that in somehow with the MFC emblem.

An outsider to football would hardly know that Melbourne are the demons. We have no logo with it apart from a pitch fork in the current logo. Nothing on any official merchandise or apparel.

Our club song doesn't even mention Melbourne, Demons or football! But lets not open up that can of worms.

Any time the Melbourne Footy Club asks for the supporters point of view is a good thing.

I'd like to see them keep the emblem for corporate use but also have a "mascot" Demon emblem for branding. Pretty sure the Cats dot his and it works well for them. Having said that the current Demons they use (Checker etc) are fine for the kids so not really a big deal.

My main interest in the survey is the word association thing and relaying my concerns re: the inherent problems within the club, the need for a complete cultural overhaul and the fear that Jackson, Roos and Bartlett while the right people may not be in for the long haul and may leave the job half finished and ready to fall apart after they leave.

Design-wise, I think the emblem is a bit of a hotch-potch, jamming a lot of disparate elements together. I prefer a cleaner, leaner symbol. That said, it could be worse.

Spot on.

From a design point of view, everything is about space and function, and that logo is just a mess of confusion and too many ideas.

The Mfc Shield should be our formal 'emblem' as the song speaks of.... but too formal for our informal occasions... so for things like the papers, or tipping, family days, etc... the cartoon Demon figure should be applied.

Which one of these...

a) Doesn't say what the team is called or at least have a picture of it's symbol

b) Looks like a purely corporate logo

c) Will never appeal to kids

d) Has too many elements, making it confusing and directionless

FCS, it doesn't even say "Demons" anywhere or have a demon, might as well put a fuschia on there!

Agree, the current logo is a mess of confusion like the previous administration who developed it.

My replies to the survey were: 1. get the Demon back for sporting wear 2. simplify the current emblem for formal attire

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
