Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jesse Hogan - back injury

I was about to give you a like, because I largely agree.

I suppose it's disappointing for many of us who have been looking forward to seeing Viney (concussion) in his second year and Hogan take the field. Not to mention getting all of Clark, Hogan and Dawes together.

You're right in that it's not a huge deal in the scheme of things, it's just that I seem to have far less to look forward to for round 1 than I was hoping.

I agree. It's a momentum killer right on the doorstep of the season, which is absolutely depressing.

That said, it's going to be an acid test of the skills/value that Paul Roos brings to this club. Under any of his recent predecessors, we'd be absolutely stuffed with zero forward line.

I reckon, however, that Roos might still be able to crunch out a win, if not that - a very solid performance.

Dress won't be back by round 2, I believe, judging from the news that he's off to the AIS in Canberra to seek treatment on his calf injuries.

Agree DA

He is now officially 426 on my injury list.

Start thinking late May

Dawes will return in round 6 V's Sydney.

He's out for another 3 weeks. Then he'll spend 2 weeks at Casey.

So we'll have 5 games without the big 3 fwds.

BBP is that your wish list?

As I see nothing to support that from any pronouncements over the last week from anyone

Yes it is my wish list.

Based solely on the ever "glass half full" injury list. It says he's 2-3 weeks.

I'll be disgusted if he doesn't play before Queens Birthday.

I think you're rght OD.

At least the club is being proactive by seeking a second opinion. Clearly their treatment of Chris Dawes's various injuries have been an epic fail given the amount of games and pre-season he's missed. Remember he pulled out of a game, 20 minutes prior to the opening bounce last year.

Not much chance of forgetting that one BBP.

We are paying a lot of money on a couple of fronts for zero at present.

Geez I know he's been injured a lot but no need to call him a "dress"... :)

I have no problems with it stuie he has been a injury nightmare since joining and the saga continues.

No barbs or arrows, however The update on the website says he's back running and will be back doing contested work this week or next. Positive news

Thanks Steve.

I only hope i am severley wrong. As mentioned, i really hope that we see him much earlier in this half of the season.

I have faith that we have the right team and that the FD/club is ensuring every avenue is addressed professionally for the best possible outcome. However, similar to OD, i have less faith in some of the injury reports and "return" predictions that we are hearing and i'll "believe" when i see the related player (be it Hogan, Dawes, Garland etc) physically running around "unimpeded" on the park week after week.

So, Clark gone, they've officially admitted they have NFI what to do about Chris Dawes, which means he has to be on the indefinite list, and Hogan is now out to 3-4 weeks. As per my posts above, subtle and not-so-subtle shifts in the media position. What they are effectively saying is that all these guys are basically no go for they have no idea how long.

The first half of the season will be a test of our character, both the players and supporters and if we can snag a win or two in the first half dozen games it will be a good result.

We have to understand that they aren't expecting great things this year, we might be but they aren't and with so many quality players out we are going to have to lower our expectations. Character is the important thing and if they as a group show plenty of that we are on the way.

My dad met up with a high club employee today and he said that Jesse Hogan's back is going to fine. Shouldn't be long until he is back out there. Also on the Chris Dawes note, he is supposed to be fine as well after a few niggles here and there he is starting to come along nicely apparently (I never would have guessed). Clark on the other hand, is a 50-50 to retire from AFL in the next few weeks. His foot is 100% not problems at all, but every time he trains he gives himself a new injury because he has been out of the game so long. That's why we have been hearing hamstring this and calf that so he has been given personal leave to discuss with his family what he should do here on in. Hopefully that doesn't happen because I think he adds so much to our list and is a champion player!

Funnily enough I was given very similar information, it was caught early enough to prevent a more serious diagnosis.

Just waiting for the hot spot to settle which is impossible to put an exact time frame on.

Not super close to the source but no reason to doubt it either.

Some guys play through pain and some just refuse to, I think Dress fits Dawes perfectly.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
