Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Demons' Jack Watts ready to take on the elite

Interesting article in today's Age on Jack Watts moving into the midfield. Given his efficiency with the ball, time in the system and improved fitness this could prove to be master stroke move by Paul Roos. Let's hope he becomes our own version of Scott Pendlebury given their basketball background and similar physiques.

He may not be the crash and bash KPF that many wanted and he may not even play mid as many want But he is really making a declaration. Roos is who he must satisfy and that will be good enough for me. Good on him

Watts was less smiley with the press and looked far more contemptuous of them as he should be after the crap they have written on him.

He looked to me like a tuck shop lady ready to serve up a big pile of SH IT sandwiches.

I've got a good feeling about Watts this year. I'd love nothing more than to see him become a star of the game and shove it up all his doubters.

I had that feeling last year.

I had that feeling last year.

And the year before!

But I do feel he'll be developed the right way this time. Put in a position he can succeed in and given strict instruction by Roos. I hope we all give him some patience and I hope Watts at least has a crack. If he's doing that then he'll get our respect

With all this talk of Jack re-signing, working with the midfield, motivated under Roos, building a tank, etc, it would look incredibly stupid if he had a poor year. Not saying he will have a 'breakout season' (a phrase I cannot stand), but he definitely needs to lift again from his 2013 improvements to justify the hype.

You would think he has everything in his favour now. Decent coach, more experience, some preseasons under his belt, more confidence and maturity. Jack has had plenty of chances and baring injury, he needs to produce consistent good football or the bandwagon is finally going to lose its wheels.

Agreed. And what's with you actually talking about football Bitty? Are you unwell?

FMD. Should not be speaking to the media in my opinion. Just puts pressure on himself and the club... and as we know he struggles with the weight of expectation.

Work hard on the track, play some decent footy and earn some respect.

Stop taking threads off topic will you Moon!!

The hot spell as definitely had an effect upon you. You should join Jack in the refrigerated truck on warm days.

Jack Watts has almost all the attributes to be a very good footballer. The missing piece is between his ears. IMHO Roos is just the person to help him rectify that.

I think the missing piece is between his shoulders. I'm not saying he's gutless, but I don't think Jack has ever really had to bust a gut and run himself to a standstill.

I've got a feeling he is a bit soft to play midfield, players like Selwood will make him look like a girl. Then what do we do with him, he has tried forward, back....I say play him where we drafted him......forward.

I have a feeling that he's going to be playing basically the role Hird played. He'll sit off the packs and be the designated outlet man for guys like Viney and Cross. If they go in and get the ball out to him he has the pace, poise and skill to really hurt the opposition with it. I can't see him suddenly becoming an inside hard man with a change of coaches, but he can certainly get more of the ball and be more damaging to the opposition playing in the middle.

That is a sh it comparison. The most relative (or heard about) is Pendlebury, and I believe he has the tools to be that good.

Watts is a victim of poor development in a poor team. If he was drafted by Collingwood in '08 he'd be a vastly different player. Roos will extract everything we've seen glimpses of in Jack on a regular basis.

I'll raise that with yours being a sh it analogy. My clear understanding is that Pendlebury played a position in basketball that required significantly more peripheral awareness than the position Watts played.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
