Thanks, ben. All the fun in baiting bullies lies in the thunderbolts they hurl from their meagre dunghills. Encore, please.

Bait all you like. What you reference as bullying is nothing more than a mild debate. Even the word robust is too extreme for those exchanges.

I posted the following in my penultimate post:

''I understood what he was saying, but thought it patent nonsense. Football clubs are about the team, not individuals.

There's no greater example of structural racism than multi-culturism, which promotes and rewards differences. It even finances groups to highlight and encourage their differences. That's structural racism. Bringing up racism with regards to a coach and his game-plan was fetching in the extreme in order to be self-indulgent.

A racist game-plan ? Good God. I've read some stupid posts on here, but that takes the cake.''

I'll assume you agree...

Give it a rest Ben we all understand that it's your way or else.

I prefered you as a myth.

Id prefer to see the bag of winds account deleted.

Is there any other industry that is so over paid for what it does at all levels from CEO to assistant coach? An industry that is so competitive and churns through staff on an annual basis or poaches seemingly good staff for even better pay but then finds out they are incompetent but has to pay them out anyway. Does anyone work for less than $200K these days?

Politics, entertainers (singers/ TV hosts etc.), CEO's of large corporations. Anyone who fills a position that draws large amounts of public attention.

In regards to Neeld's tenure, he did his role as well as he could, he simply didn't have the skills to perform the role at an acceptable level and that is as much an indictment on those who appointed him (looking at you Gary Lyon) than the man himself.

When you look at the volume of negative situations that he had to deal with I'm not sure there are many current coaches who would have fared better (would the blonde psychopath still be around if Essendon had a few more crisis' to deal with?). It has been touched on before, but whether or not there was 'an agenda to remove the man from day dot' (paraphrased) he still suffered from a lack of board stability and support. It's hard to look forward when you're watching your back and he was clearly counting the days until a knife was planted there.

From the outside looking in he was placed in a role that few could handle and he lacked the experience and skills to make a go of it. I hold nothing against him for his time because I believe that at the time, we were unable to attract anyone more capable. As another poster said, rating his tenure on a scale of 1-10 he scores a 1.

Good points Beats. I too think GarRy Lyon has a lot to answer for. Doing the 'hokey pokey' with one foot in and one foot out, long after he should have got involved. Too little too late, and what he contributed towards proved disastrous, eg selecting Neeld quickly in the process. Probably should have stayed out of it.

Has anyone actually seen mark neeld or heard anything about him. Its like he has disappeared. I know he went overseas to do some study but now all is quiet.

He was actually a nice guy and yes he may have been a crap coach but I still feel a bit sorry for him. I mean the guy still has to make a living but his reputation has been quashed.

I did see him once, of all the bloody places in the world, on the platform at Southern Cross station. I think he got on the train, with his daughter, to Hurstbridge. He looked pretty browned off and with good cause too. I know that I would want to look unapproachable too if any d---heads wanted to wander up and give me crap.

Then again, why is he bloody riding a Metro Service anyway? It would be moths to a lamp style stuff (though I'm guessing his daughter wanted to go somewhere and he was accompanying her).

He actually wasn't a nice guy, and he's got 600ks to live on.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
