Half time? I'm normally out there at the 20 minute mark of the first quarter then down to the bar to drown my sorrows for the rest of the game - hopefully we'll be more competitive next year and I can kick 2 habits :)

I don't see the need for bigger screens - I actually go to the game TO WATCH THE FOOTY LIVE!!!

If they turn the volume up on the loudspeakers to accompany the bigger screens, and we have to hear more from that half-time announcing nuisance, I will both scream and vomit.

And please, no more betfair commercials or whatever gambling institution the AFL chooses for the 2014 season.

Thank God Kliptch make superb headphones.

The thought of being subjected to Bon Jovi dirges at half time and other breaks at max volume is enough to consider staying home.

What happened to discussing the game with mates at the breaks MCC???

I'm with the noise-cancelling headphone brigade. I particularly hate idiots on PA systems trying to ginger up the crowd. It is so phoney. I wonder how they don't die of embarrassment doing it. Even more concerning is that some people may actually like it.

I dont mind watching the screen when a replay or such is presented. Often my eyes cant always pick up whats going on 150 m away . I dont mind a bit of pizaz..or rock..or whatever.. but I dont need it blasted out to me at the footy. I go to concerts for that !! :)

I'm in the headphone bridage.

A bigger screen is great I often get caught out, looking ahead to where the ball may end up, who's on a lead etc. or turn back to see what happened behind the play, then miss something in play.

But dont hype up the game with crap , part of the experience being there is the raw emotion from supporters. if they have to gee up the crowd, then I'm afraid our great game is on the decline. Its BLOODY annoying at 1/2 time, putting up with music being belted out while discussing with friends aspects of the game, or having some banter with the enemy.Just for the record I love music I used to play in a band, but I go to the footy to watch and discuss the footy.

Perhaps a few of us could take a footy to a Bon Jovi concert and kick it around. Horses for courses.

......It could be in response to some of the MFC games last year, where the supporters were either sitting in dead silence with their heads in hands, or drinking to forget.....seriously the music is not that loud, although I agree some of the ground announcers I could live without...........

I have been onto this for years but my complaints to MCC fall on deaf (maybe deafened) ears.

One of the joys of our game is idle and sometimes animated banter with both friends and with strangers before the game and during breaks.

Unfortunately those who presumably spend their breaks behind the glass, with a glass, don't give a stuff.

Vlad has always tried to "Americanize the game" and this incessant amplified noise is just too much.

IMO if he loves all things American then please just leave us along and go and live there.

PS: Nothing wrong with a big screen - helps those of us with failing distance vision to see what is going on the opposite side of the field.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
