Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I don't know. I have to be honest. I'm not a TAC cup junkie so I will readily admit that I shouldn't be taken on gospel on either.
But... as has been said earlier, we have been burnt recruiting skinny kids. I hope now that we have blokes who have reputations for developing skinny kids in charge, the outcome might be different.

Actually, I think our history is of recruiting skinny kids without either an appetite for the contest or a work ethic (or both).

Don't think that's happened in this draft.

Don't know anything about these kids so i will have to trust Roos and Taylor.

I am a little corcerned we gave up Kelly as he looks to be a Jet, but we did get 2 players for one so the Poker game is on.

Kelly may become a jet but give me two very good midfielders over 1 great any day. A champion team beats a team of champions on any day. Backing in Roos and Stone who have runs on the board for developing players, we have now got a nucleus of very good young first string onballers in Viney, Tyson, Toumpas and Salem. We have Jones, Cross and Vibce who are all hardened and experienced and have performed well at the top level for long times now and can protect and teach these youngsters. We also then have some very good quality potential long term mids in Michie and Reilly. And this doesn't take into account blokes like Grimes, Watts, Mckenzie et al whom can then play roles more suited to their skill set.

Pick 2 and 20 for Tyson, Salem and Vince (pick 23) is a very good outcome for me when we are trying to build a long term high quality midfield...

Edit- Mods change the thread title to something like post draft discussion as even though it was in jest originally it won't end up that way....

Don't be too concerned 'wyl', Tyson will be one of the top 5 mids in the comp in the next couple of years. He see's the game like Pendles and Mitchell…in slow motion. You can't teach that.

Kelly to me is Scully with a better kick and cleaner hands, he will be a good player no doubt and he works hard at it but I would back Tyson to be the gun.

Salem is a bonus and a very good one.

Why do we have so many lies on this site, demonland is the only place I hear that this kid is skinny, al the media reports say he is a big bodied mid, he is 183 81kg that is not skinny, stu is one big make up artist

Salem isn't exactly a "skinny" kid tho. I'm sick of the classifications having to be all or nothing, like Freeman is a terrible kick and Salem is a skinny kid.

Lol.. What?

I certainly hope you are right....i am still to be convinced with Toumpas over Wines...so it better not be 2 years running.

The Club cannot afford mistakes....at all

i am glad we took Salem, because right now as i type Salem is a Demon and that makes him special. he is automatically better than Freeman, who is a filthy Magpie. that it might have been otherwise is irrelevant, because it isn't otherwise.

for my part, i will track Freeman's progress each Queen's Birthday and perhaps one other match per season, otherwise i would have to watch Collingwood matches ... ick.

Very much missing that like button right now.

Well, we are going to make them.

Why? A Good Club gets it right.

Regardless of whether we are a larger or smaller club.

We made bad decisions in the past because the club overall was lazy.

This must be over...

But i am sure you will allow those "mistakes"....doesn't mean others should.

i make mistakes in my job i am out...simple.

i think Ill back Roos, Viney and Taylors opinion over anyone on this forum

Just sayin'

The problem is we heard the same things about Prendegast, Bailey, Neeld, Cameron and Daniher.

But Roos (unlike the Poms - couldn't resist that today) has runs of the board.

Come on mate- you've watched enough footy in your time. Just because a player has a body ready made to play afl, and plays in a team with some midfield depth (and credit to wines for a ripper first year) doesn't make him better long term than a guy coming off injuries playing in the worst performed midfield in memory with a body that needed a year or 2 in the gym (and still managed to string some good games together).

Don't be disheartened on what we "could" have missed out on, jump on board the guys we have now. Salem looks so impressive, can you imagine Jesse hogan and Mitch Clark, who themselves witll almost be 2014 recruits, looking up and seeing Salem or toumpas with the pill in hand??? What defender has a chance to stop that! Throw in that we now have jay Kennedy-Harris at the feet of these boys on the off ahamce that hoges or Mitch drop it, and I think the disappointment of not picking wines, or fyfe or whoever we overlooked, will be a distant memory in a bygone era that we hopefully won't ever visit again.

We are going to make mistakes.

If being flawless were a prerequisite for progress - no-one would have accomplished anything ever.

Just get of the horse, wyl. You are embarrassing yourself.

Yep speculative. High risk, high reward. Obviously thought someone was going to nab him down the line.

Surely at 57 that should read low risk, high reward.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
