Mitch Clark is Back

The original Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse were a Fremantle player, a Brisbane player, a Carlton player, and a guy who finished his career so brain damaged that he found himself wandering around a footy field with no idea how he got there or what was happening.

Well feel free to come up with another name. Wasn't aware it was already reserved.

Call me a grumpy old cynic but maybe the threads title should read Mitch hopes he's back

Nooooooooooo, we don't call them the Four Horsemen. That name has history on this site.

Haha you beat me to it.

Wow that was a throw back!

It certainly puts this current good feeling about coach and recruiting into perspective doesn't it...

I [censored] myself every time I see that someone has posted in this thread.

Darn censorship, leaves my completely mystified to what you do to yourself... sounds saucy but

How innocent we were in 2003. After the highs of 2000 who could have predicted the last 7 years...

We were so blind to the pain that was about to come.

Alistair Nicholson was seriously our biggest problem back then.

Bring back Al!

I have read a couple of articles and posts that suggest Clark could play ruck. Not sure what everyone else thinks but I am not keen on this idea as I think he is only middle of the road as a ruck but dominant as a forward. I also understood that he himself didn't love rucking. I'm happy for our rucks like Gawn to learn their trade rather than robbing peter to pay paul. The bulldogs have Minson who is a stellar ruck but he also has had excellent rovers running around him, they also fall into a big hole when they go forward. I feel we would end up like that with Clark not settled as a forward as we move forward with our shiny new toys next year. Without doubt the pain of the last six years has been worse that '76-'84 for me personally but I do believe our centre will improve with the new regime and having a settled forward line (and back six) will be gold, and I think Clark needs to be the forward leader not pinch hitting. When we were not a rabble I always though we struggled in the back for a key FB and while having some awesome forwards and brilliant goal kickers we did struggle to keep them on the park (as I think WJ noted in another post how we were cruelled by injuries during the Balme era). Any thoughts, anyone awake back home in Oz?

Melbourne Demons 2014 Forward Line. Do we call them the 4 Horseman?

Jeremy (Famine) - If he's in the marking contest, he'll starve you of the ball.

Mitch (Death) - What you'll experience when you get in his way.

Jesse (Conquest) - In the way he attacks the ball.

Chris (War) - His attitude on the entire game.

I liked it. I have always thought that our forward line and the Apocalypse go well together ... :-)

Jeremy (Famine) unless they have a better mid field and then he goes hungry himself

Mitch (Death) came close to this with regards to his football career due to long term injuries

Jesse (Conquest) First year AFL player in 2014 still has alot to learn about the game but lets all put massive expectation on him so we can bag him more if he does not deliver from the 1 minute of game 1

Chris (War) the best public speaker in the team, pity he is so injury prone. But could give the pre game pep talk to the team.

Besides a rookie AFL Player this is the same guys that was part of the worst team in the league.

IMO it is not important as to what they may do as its all about what they actually do.

I still can't get over this post. It really sums up our last 10 years.

I know. Seems like a lifetime ago doesn't it. And Belly - it's such a sad story from both a team and personal point of view. Last I heard he'd undergone some treatment that greatly improved his cognitive faculties - would love another "where are they now" type feature on him.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
