They have Hogans kicking down on all the others and is the only reason he isn't at the top. It is improving the longer he is with us, plus as demonfan said he is performing against men

From the snippets of footage I've seen his action is certainly loooking more fluid and natural than before.

Interesting to read that they rare Hogans ability to play as a key defender as well. I've not read of such a thing... Did he spend some time down back as a junior?

It's Hogan all the way for me. Patton:Inured. Daniher: Seems to be a more talented Max Gawn type but can't kick and will take time. Boyd: Watts was touted as the next great forward. Hogan: Has performed against men. Has the size and the engine to slot in straight away.

IF (yeah, yeah) we get Pick 1 then there is no right or wrong decision on what we do with that pick - only what we do with that pick.

Do we go Boyd?

Do we get two mids with 1 and 3?

Do we trade for a young midfield star to be?

Each hypothetical has merit and downside, each one will be judged over time, each one will be seen as an important decision for our future.

Roos wrote in that article from months ago, when he was obviously starting to get his head around coaching in 2014, that he would trade either or both for established midfielders but when push comes to shove you don't want be a pushover.

Jeremy Cameron > all of them

Disagree. Booting 60 goals isn't as hard as you think when the ball is getting kicked almost exclusively to you

Take out that rubbish 'leadership' category (which he wasn't recruited for), and he's equal top, even with the kicking.

He lost overall by 1.6 points, but was docked 1.4 points (7.8 vs 9.2 for Boyd/Patton) for "size" when he is 195cm and 97kg. Patton is 197 cm and 100 kg. Not much different of you ask me, certainly not worth that big a gap in points. They also go on to talk up his versatility paying forward and back but is not scored according to that either.

Regardless the or of 100 criteria gives equal weir to marking, versatility etc. and ranks size and strength in different categories both equal to above. I'd much rather a player who can mark than is versatile, and leadership I agree is a bonus, and not important in a draftee: I'd much rather on field skills.

It is an interesting subjective take on it though. And it suggests we could be entering a new era of power forwards as the guard changes a bit.

As a 20 year old, getting the best defender each week and only having started playing footy a few years ago... I think it's very impressive.

Also considering they get belted every week.

He played back quite a bit during his junior days, and did very well there apparently. His junior highlights video (YouTube?) shows him down back a lot. Versatile.

IF we are to get pick 1, I'm warming to the idea of using it on Boyd.

Otherwise, we'd want to get a hell of a lot for it, if we trade it.

Pick 1 for Sam Mayes and pick 8?

Pick 1 for MacRae and pick 5?

Pick 1 for Armitage and pick 4?

Pick 1 for Yarran and pick 12?

Pick 1 for Scooter Selwood and pick 7?

We'd be playing hardball, any way it goes.

4 is cringe-worthy.

3 and 5 are the only ones I'd really consider

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
