Big money may change his mind. We will have to pay overs for him or Swallow or whomever.

I just wonder what influence the identity of our new coach will have on good players being prepared to join us? However, even if we snag JC as coach we would still need to throw around plenty of cash.

We'll get nuthin for him. A fair trade I say 0 for 0

Teams that are fighting for premierships and a set culture will find use for a Jack Watts.

IMO Pick 16-20 is what teams will pay. Watt's play isn't deserving of first round but teams will pay for potential.

My wishlist for the prima donna is pretty much David Swallow or Taylor Adams. There have been reports that Swallow is interested in a move to Victoria to be closer to his Brother and Adams has put contract talks with GWS on hold. Why would they want to come to the Dees ? That's the hard part.

Tip Toes won't land either by himself, so what is the sweetener ? Blease is probably worth a packet of chips and Tip Toes around pick 20. TT and pick 19 for Adams ? TT and pick 2 for Swallow and pick 20 something ?

Whatever we do we need to land a young strong classy mid that has had a few years at AFL level.

Would happily have either of those. I hadn't really considered GWS as lacking in tall forwards but perhaps they are.

Patton and Cameron are the guns, but after that, there's not much:

- Tomlinson has been OK (plays back as well I think). To me he'll need a few more years in the system to pack a punch

- O'Hailpin is an ageing (enthusiastic) hack

- Jacsch is yet to debut

So there may be scope for an experienced, bigger bodied forward (yes, I'm trying to dress him up here).

The hard part is getting the planets to line up - Adams agrees to going to any Victorian club or GWS insists Adams goes where they want him and, wait for it - GWS wants Watts(and a pick) and Watts agrees!

Yeah nah

Not to mention JC perform a few miracles. Forgive my reluctance to buy the coach influence line Bitter, but I'm of the view that no star players will be influenced to any real degree by who coaches us next year. We are a basket case with no respect. None. Only big, big bundles of cash will get us Swallow, Martin, Daisy or even Adams. Hock the box, as it were.

If people are suggesting a package of 2 or 3 or more players for, say, Swallow or Martin or player x, they also need to keep in mind that we still need to fill the places on our list traded away. History shows that most trades are player for player or player for pick rather than a bundle for one.

Jack Watts for Pick 10? they have almost certainly activated it to use as trade bait, we could then use pick 10 on Matt Crouch

I am sure Brisbane would give up their first round pick or maybe even Polec and a 2nd or a 3rd rounder for Watts... especially if Brown retires. Even if people feel that's overs (I dont) i

I don't, because I rate Polec.

We can't match that.

But... We can pitch to Jack that the expectation of him being the savior has now passed and does he really want to go to Carlton - where they expect him to be the savior of the forward line.

Carlton is the very last club that Jack Watts should want to go to, it's not in his best interests and it shouldn't be hard to point that out to Jack.

I think a $450k two year deal would be down Jacks alley, suits us and him.

For those who says 450 is too much, consider what other clubs are offering Jack.

I don't think Jack Watts is as big of an issue as most, he is past the worst at the MFC.

I would absolutely [censored] myself if Watts went to carlton and Neeld came shortly afterwards!

Yeah Watts would be silly not to put that clause in a well paid contract - although it wouldn't be a good look to put himself before other players development.

I don't believe Jack Watts is about that, I agree with Jack Watts stance at the moment, there is no reason to start potting Jack yet.

Jack Watts doesn't strike me as the type of bloke to jump ship for a quid.

Watts is no Scully, I've only heard people speak highly of Jack Watts, I've only heard Sheedy speak highly of Tom Scully.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
