Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It seems from everything we have read and comments from ASADA and their lawyers that the circumstantial case against the bombers for the use of TB4 is complelling. There is little doubt in my mind the Dank adminsitered TB4 thinking he could get around the WADA code by using a compounding pharmacy and that in all likelyhood Essednon approved this action including obtaining player consents for what they knew were borderline legal procedures (as it turns out they were illegal) .

I cant work out why Hird is still there. I dont blame Thompson being annoyed given Hird was senior coach and he got a multi million contract extension a first class MBA paid for and his old contract paid out when he was banned. Thompson has been asked by Essendon to pay his own fine. I would not pay either. Obviously Thompson was/is not rerquired and you would think Harvey and Neeld along with Craig have been brought in becuase Hird is a dead man walking otherwise there are way too many ex senior coaches on the team. Hirds position must be untenable unless as others have suggested there is way more this than we can see. I suspect the WJ is correct and the club is holding off on sacking Hird untill the full bench swat him away.

It will be interesting to see what sort of bans the players end up with, from the outside they dont appear to have cooperated but who knows what ASADA and ultimately WADA will be comnfortable with.

I hope workcover take action once the bans are done and dusted.

The other thing I cant get my head around is why there is so little focuss on the board. Surely there are members and backers who can see past the spin and are aware that this headed for a disaster. There should another ticket running at the AGM whenever that is but there does not seem to be an alternative for members. If infractions are issued and players banned the board has to go.

I guess he is short odds for B & F!

He was disqualified as Messydrugs did not think he was a team player

I suspect once Bomber Thompson put his name out-there for the Don's Job at their B&F night, and then the club subsequently reneged on firing Hird, that Thompson has now thrown his hands put in the air and said "I give up, I am out of here" and therefore sees no reason why he should pay the fine if he no longer has any AFL ambitions.

The question I ask though is what does Tania and James Hird have on Little and the current EFC board. My lawyer friends tell me this is a pretty straight forward case: Hird has been negligent and there is a very clear case for him to be dismissed for gross incompetence without compensation. Instead he was signed on for an additional two years for just about the top salary for a coach in the AFL, he was then rubbed out for 12 months for failing to implement adequate governance, but was not only paid his full salary but he and his family was sent off to France on a prestigious short form MBA at one of the top universities in the world accompanied by his wife and kids. Conservatively would have cost Essendon all up between $1.5 and $2m. Now, when 34 of the players who played under him received infraction notices, he still is able to hang onto his job in spite of the fact that he is pursuing legal action directly against the wishes of Little and the EFC board supposedly for legal technicalities. I say again my legal mates think this is very straight forward case of incompetence.

He must have something else on them, possibly unrelated to the drugs saga. That seems the only explanation. If I am right then it will come out, and it will become an even bigger scandal than it is now. My contacts in the legal profession have a very good idea of what it is, and if they are right, it will make the other sporting/social scandal in the last three years look tame by comparison, and will create international headlines even if there is no awareness of AFL as such in the international news outlets.

There is much more behind this than meets the eye and it is eye-bogglingly scandalous! Hird is a creep.

Well, we know Tania is good at taking notes ... :)

Shane Charter's evidence in this case could be that important that one would be presuming that he would be under constant surveillance.

And if he is not by hell I would want to bl***y know why not...

Will this saga ever end?

Can someone hit with the dates things are supposed to happen.

Got to say I am lost after being away for three weeks.

If you really want to know:

- Hird's opportunity to be smashed by the Federal Court again happens next Monday

- Challenge to the Board at AGM: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/ron-gauci-and-jason-cunningham-to-run-for-essendon-board-seek-change/story-fnp04d70-1227113945695

The longer it goes on the more of their seasons get derailed. Suitable self-inflicted punishment!

BTW our 'Dees2014' has flagged there is a lot more nasty stuff to come out!

Re that challenge to the Board: It's good to see there are some Essendon supporters who are realists and are not self-deluded and mesmerised by Hird and co.

Like any great TV soapie it takes time to develop.

We all have gone though stages of wanting this thing to end but MessyDrugs always finds a new long to drag this thing out even longer.

IMO we are watching the death of this Club and that worth watching.

About time someone at that club stood up to take control. People like to have a go at our previous boards but bv comparison we were outstanding. This club needs to change direction and get this sorted if they want to move on.; It cant happen with Hird, Little, Thompson, The doc or anyone else in authority still at the club. They need to purge out the filth and start again. Any players who cant accept there responsibility in this also need to go because despite my sympathy and that of others they are culpable as well.

Unfortunately recruiting Harvey and possibly Sheedy just reinforces support for the old guard that need to be removed.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
