Too soon to tell on the last 2 but with the possible exception of Gumbleton I'd say JT looks way out of his league. I don't think the frustration is with his effort. The frustration is with his potential to have an impact with skill or speed that matches anyone on that list.

At parts it felt like neeld was still coaching. Our manning up was poor, we couldnt get it out of the middle and we still went down the line.

But my question is when they showed Craig in the coaches box he had todd and two others. Where were our assistant coaches. I didnt see Rawlings, brown or royal at all.

Neelds excellent coaching will take the boys a little while to get out of their system but they are well on the way.

The coaches box I think only had one camera angle and at the start of the coverage u saw Royal (that's our top midfield coach!) in the shot but after that it was just the V man and Craigy.

It's pretty much a two man band right now. I think the rest of 'em have been told to go stare at a wall for the next six weeks until their contracts are up.

Yep. You can only put your head in the ground and say "he'll come good" for so long. It's frustrating, but probably just have to accept that he has limitations, and go from there.

I would have thought Dawes would be more worthy than Trengove of this weeks demonland hanging? 500k a year and he was shown up bigtime by fitz today, granted he has played some good games this year for us and his leadership has been impressive but we are paying him alot of money so he really should be showing abit more touch.

He needs a stable and environment and some help. Amazing what will happen once those two things are in place.

I would've liked him to hold some more but he still worked damn hard. Really Fitzy's performance was very good for a greasy night but it was his speed that allowed him to play small that set up the performance.

It's fairer to compare Dawes' performances of the last two weeks to the big forwards at the other end in Hawkins, Pods and Merrett and there wasn't much between them

I will applaud anyone who doubles the number of tackles of anyone else on the field. His effort is not to be questioned.

But offensively, his lack of speed is having a clear impact. Opposition players eyes must light up when he gets the ball because he's so painfully slow in everything he does. You also up your tackle count when you're always second to the ball.

He is alot like trenners in that he is great at the defensive side of things and the next step will come from adding more offensive potency, would love to see him become a 40-50 goal a year forward

It's a bit gloomy on here today!

We lost by 20 points (one of our smallest margins for the year)

Brisbane recently bet north and Geelong!

Improvement is all I ask for and that's what I got today so I am happy (cant run before you learn to walk)

Least we all know now that our midfield will be the key to us improving (and I think it would make a huge difference)

Hope we can get that priority pick and trade it for an established mid (23-26)

I gave up on Trengove becoming a gamebreaker last year, I see him being able to hold a spot as a contributer but he just does not seem to have the attributes he first had when he came to the club.

They had a fair go today, but lacked the patience and poise when needed. When we needed goals, we just seemed to miss them.

Some good signs there but I really thought we could get the win tonight.

It's hard to say, fitz started well and then they tightened up on him abit, i'd say they're fighting it out for the 3rd forward spot next year though

Midfield midfield midfield. My kingdom for a midfield.

Loved viney almost moved the game from excruciating to mildly frustrating.

Didn't Brisbane do well out of the 2008 draft - Rich, Redden and Rockliff - that could have been our midfield!

I know its easy looking through the retrospectascope but in this case it is probably of some interest given we were dead keen on taking Redden but missed out by waiting for him to fall to pick 35 and it wouldn't have been a huge stretch to have picked up Rockcliff with our late pick (#51) given he fell along way from expectations to be picked-up in the PSD. As for Rich, at the time it wouldn't have been totally out of the question to have picked him up given he was one of 3 being touted as #1 ( but I'd still take Jack both then and now - please don't turn this into "we shouldn't have picked Jack Watts" thread).

As for our picks #1 Watts, #17 Blease, #19 Strauss, #35 Bennell, #51 Jetta. I guess that seemed a pretty fair return at the time but I can't help thinking about this everytime we play the Lions.

Edit: Oh yeah, Rohan Bail at pick 64 was apparently our revenge on Brisbane for taking Redden as they were keen on him at pick 69 - take that Brisbane Lions.
