With all due respect, therein lies the problem.

You're a supporter Sat, just like me, and whilst we might think we know what's good for an emblem people are paid to make those decisions. If Schwab et.al were actually asking supporters who regularly rocked up to training for emblem advice we were far more in strife than I ever anticipated.

No it was produced and we were asked our opinion, I personally like Barcelona's on which it was based, so I was ok with it, but it had a couple of things most of us didn't like and they disappeared, it was replacing that hideous red V thing, so most asked were glad to see the back of it and probably agreed the emblem was good. I personally think it wouldn't have mattered if everybody disliked it, Schwab would have gone ahead anyway.

But at the moment personally I think it looks good, I don't want it replaced with a bloody cartoon demon, we have gone past that

I didn't give my feedback to the designer, I gave it to the Club, so you are wrong again, I am not defending the Club, your opinion is that it is outdated, too busy and could work better, I don't agree....horror upon horror but then again I think Barcelona's design upon which it is based is one of the best in Europe, each to their own

Any commercial design enterprise can turn down a brief, or they can accept it and then whinge about it, classy

Yes, but your feedback would have been passed on to the designer, by the club, according to your claims.

Or alternatively you said "bonza schwabby!" and the club signed off on it.

Either way, it's ok, with some nice aspects, and some distasteful ones, meaning it could be improved.

I'd like to see that happen.

It is nothing at all like Barcelona's emblem, even if that's what Schwab was aiming for... And if he was, he failed miserably.

No you are not reading it right, read what I wrote, we were asked for feedback, assume Schwab removed the bits most didn't like then passed on the brief of what HE WANTED, to the agency, which was also responsible for the hideous red V, the Barcelona emblem reflects the history of the Club, same as MFC

Well then what's the point of even mentioning that you gave Schwab feedback?

Name-dropping the members of your circle jerk?

The Barcelona crest is a flat shield, with no 80s gradients, containing a ball, the club initials and 3 patterns on the shield to represent the city and the club colours.

Where is the comparisons with the MFC emblem?

If the brief was as simple as "reflect the history of the club", it wouldn't be such a mess.

Those are things Schwab has asked for.

You know what? Lets say Schwab didn't ask for the logo to be like that, and it's due to the graphic designer's incompetence.

Who accepted that as a final product and signed off on it?

No, I was a member of a group, which I have put at least five times, explained previously, don't need acceptance by any group to feel fulfilled, you grow out of it, well some do, trying to stop posters like yourself from putting incorrect information, why the need to name call, rather childish

It was exactly what Schwab asked for, er let's guess the CEO and Board

Right. Moving on...

It was exactly what Schwab asked for, er let's guess the CEO and Board

Like I said - the brief was then inherently flawed, to get such a flawed result.

Either that, or the club accepted a mediocre result.

Both result in the club being at fault for the emblem as is.

To say its not out-dated shows ignorance - when is the last time you saw a gradient on another logo? 1986?

And it has twice as many cluttered elements as the Barcelona crest it supposedly attempt to emulate.

Amazingly, it still works in some ways.

But it could be much better, with a clearer strategy and an improved brief.

I vote for the current emblem (with maybe subtle small changes) for more formal use

PLUS

a new simple logo for the more casual or simplistic use (no fixed ideas on what it should look like)

Pity you couldn't hand your cross town rivals the title this season. :P

Nothing at all wrong with the '69 Twisties Demon.

HaHaHa, are we talking about the same thing WYL? were you a hippy mate? let me guess, Mr Twister.

twister.jpg

love the old Twisties WYL, in fact I was partaking in some just yesterday. I had no idea that was from '69. but I'll take your word for it.

The thing is, we all want our club to be taken seriously, as the past 50 years, we have had our fair share of condescension & pitying, from the VFL/AFL community. And it was our fault, thru really poor off field administration. Which caused a once Great Club to go nowhere, but down.

We have to ensure this stops with this admin', they are doing a great job, so far under the auspices of the AFL's oversight. We need to be able to see where we went wrong, admit it, so we can make sure we don't do the 'same old-same old' when we are on our own wheels again.

.... I have no faith in the proven former failures of those up on high, to continually get the right Footy Smart people on our boards, & in-turn our footy administrations.

Couldn't get the quote to work.

But fire eaters pre game would be cringeworthy and tacky.

All the pre game stuff is and fire eaters at the G at 1:10 on a Sunday will be just awesome....

Back in '69 there were Footy Cards in Twisties. Your MCC Demon was the one offered.

Always remembered coz that's when footy started for me.

You used it to launch an attack and justify your opinion on the emblem, so therefore I have the right to reply, it is quite simple, as I said in a previous post I was asked for my opinion on an earlier version before it went into production, a few of us were, we gave some input and it was listened to, what the Club got was exactly what it asked for, not as you say a messy conflicted brief.

If you friend is not the designer, then how do you know it was as you described

That doesn't mean it wasn't a messy brief though.

Yes but I support the People's Club, once a Blue always a Blue (I remember somebody from the Scully school of loyalty saying that once), you do know Suarez is about to leave again

If you're talking about the Real deal, that was nipped in the bud. He signed another contract extension during the season, so he won't leave. At least not this off season.

Meh, people are entitled to that opinion . I supported them when they dropped down to third tier so I'm not about to complain over getting to now watch them compete for European titles ever year. Unfortunately in the modern game you need money to be successful, pending on your definition of success.

Whilst I enjoyed the title, I arguably got more pleasure this season watching United's fall from "grace" :) The title win last season was something very special though.

I think many found BR's tactics both in that game and at Palace to be perplexing. Perhaps showing signing of his inexperience at the pointy end. Admirable effort from your mob though. I don't hate Liverpool like others do, possibly because I just really like the city and the people. Have been there a couple of times.

Anyhow, back on topic.

Obviously, I respect those that were there before, like yourself, but hate those bandwagoners who jump between United, City or Chel$ea.

We were all out attack, no defence this season. That lost it. I think Rodgers knew that, so simply played to try and wipe Chel$ea off the park. It probably would have been a draw had Gerrard not slipped though.

Watching United fall this season was hilarious. Hopes it keeps going.

Admirable effort though, certainly.

Emblem, derpie derp.

The current emblem is too stylised. I find it overworked/manufactured. It lacks class.

Ironically, it no way does it look and feel historical either - and I understand that was one of its intended outcomes.

It just looks faux.

really. thats OK, you can have your opinion. no one has said daylight except yourself gorgoroth. I'm sure I stated night & twilight games. Anyway I better go back to check in case your assertion is correct.

I, on the other hand would like to see us grow our brand around being the Demons, & a Demons environment & play thing is fire. I would love to see us get more Friday night/ Saturday night fixtures live on Free to Air TV. & we are up against a lot of others for these timeslots.

Excitement is important to this end, & Fire after dark, or Twilight, is a very intoxicating thing to see live & to watch on TV, on brief moments.

.... Perfect I would have thought for our night games which are too few, on entry of our team onto the Arena when on live Night-time Telly, to encourage excitement & a point of difference.

Also exciting for people in the stands to see briefly, & for the kids to watch. All in all, I think it has a wow factor suitable to enhance our chances to be TV friendly. After we start to play better & Win more, of course..

Lets face it, we have been very plaid for a long time. Fletcher Jones-ish.

ah yeah, I remember now, I got one in a twisty packet at the show back 0n school excursion. But Twisties would have had to get permission to use the image from us, at the time.

And those who ran our club at that time were responsible for the sort of image they wanted our club to have. I think the Bombers had a grinning bomber plane caricature, with some menace about it.

Ours is very impotent, gentlemanly, & no menace about it, as a Demon. Meekly smiling, looking non threatening, & carefully holding his tail, in a formal courteous sort of way. And so it goes on. slowly slowly building a public AFL image, which has sterilised us, piece by piece.

We've been slowly turned from Demons, back to the boys next door, ever since the great Norm Smith was swept aside.

There was a night game about three years ago -- I think the one where Olivia Newton-John and Jimmy sang before the game -- when there were flame throwers (machines, not human!) spouting flames about 2 metres high on either side of the team as they ran out. I haven't seen that before or since. It looked spectacular at the time, but I think the effect may wear off after the first few times.

The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
