I want to see a quality opposing ticket. It looks very much like The Don is setting up to run as VP behind the new guy (Freeman?), but while it would give us a more forceful leader I don't know that it would provide a significant change in the style and direction of the board. If Jeff comes up with a decent group on his ticket I would certainly give him some thought, although I can't say that I'd vote for him unless he had some really good plans.

Id go as far as to say we just want a quality ticket ( whomever) with some reasonable ( not far fetched ) idea (s) of how the F we get out of the hades we're in.

Im not really sure how how the incumbents can continue but Id happily look and listen.I'll do that to them all.

There ought to be a basic questionaire of say a dozen concerns that any and all wannabes ought to be able to answer.

I also think any and all sides ought to be able to address the membership via the clubs email. we need information to enable informed decisions ( by us )

Bloody hell I have got no idea what to think about this mob anymore! Who knows what poo our club takes on in the future because they have a rolled gold history of stuffing up with boards.

Whoever gets this gig has to do a lot of confidence building and actually deliver bloody outcomes.

I want one ticket.

I want to see those people who are clamouring for change to go and talk to McLardy and the current Directors and have their say and for those people to structure the best board for this club going forward.

There is no need for a blood bath - there is no need for a full challenge of the board.

I hate to break this to those who want to see some action come the end of the year but those that are asking questions of McLardy and are willing to put their hand up are not talking to Jeff Kennett, they are not chatting up a outside puppet for a coup - they are talking to the Demons that are currently running the club and telling them they are willing to help.

McLardy will go and a few new Directors will arrive and we will be the stronger for the bloodlessness.

It's the only way we are going to move forward 'rpfc' anything else would take to much focus away from what is important and that is the team starting to perform on the ground. We don't need a battle of ego's, it would be the continuation of a long slow death for the club.

We shouldn't wait till the end of the year IF the restructuring of the football dept leads to personnel changes and if Neeld gets show the door. This board should have nothing to do with hiring a new coach or anyone for important positions IMO.

The majority of this board will be on the next board...

What do people think is going to happen?

Do you not see why there is no Demons publicly clamouring for change like that news [censored]-thorn supporter Kennett?

They are talking to the current board about how they can actually help, and not hinder, by getting involved and not looking for revolt.

Considering my preference would be for the board to be 5-7 (max) people, I would have few survive.

My biggest worry is to have them in charge of hiring another coach. If this isn't going to happen, sure make changes at the end of the year.

If the coach goes, they should too.

im not sure i quite see the logic behind that. Some , possible..most...very unlikely

There should be a depends vote on both questions. If a completely new ticket turned up and said wee wasn't to spill blood I'm not sure if need keen on voting for them.

I don't think the current board are the right people but I do think they are smart enough to help identify and nominate the right people too move us forward. The last thing we need is more factions, and anyone who can't see that probably shouldn't be on the board.

I'm willing to be a candidate for the board.

This club totally needs a 'transitions to modernity' anthropologist.

So I guess that makes me in favour of fresh faces, I suppose I should cleanse tone and moisturise to get ready.

The current board have delivered draft picks and have cleared our massive debt, this should not be forgotten..... in the process though, they have turned our club into a charity case, on and off the field....

It's time for change.... It's time for this club to stop begging.... We need action.... We need a board thats is going to pick this club up of its knees....

Im gonna say thanks to this board for clearing our debt.... The cool looking emblem and the great looking jersey's.... You got the branding right.....

I don't think this board (if they are still there) will have much say at all on any new appointments apart from rubber stamping recommendations from the CEO and whoever he co-opts.

Everyone in football has the opinion that Jeff Kennett being president is literally a joke, I can't for the life of me believe that people think this would be a good idea!!!

Me neither.

'delivered draft picks' I can't tell if your joking or not? - Most demonlanders hate the emblem but I like it and as for the 'clearing our debt' - that was the work of Jim Stynes and our faithful supporters not the board. If anything it is the poor structured board that caused the debt and will be the cause of the epic looming debt that is about to hit us hard.

if Kennetts ticket is comprised of diehard Demon supporters with a clear vision and plan, then I will vote for them in a heartbeat

Then they should run for president. If they are true diehard demons with a clear vision and plan then they won't be on a ticket with Kennett.

The problem is discerning if they in fact have a clear vision and plan our if they are just playing on the heart strings under a campaign of "we need change because the results are unacceptable".

It is always difficult to tell the difference between the different tickets at such an election because they both promise the same thing and we have no way of knowing which team is actually more capable.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
