Melbourne have killed my passion for footy and I'm finding it hard to get up for detailed reports, hopefully there's some good chat maintained over the split round as I think a few of these games could be closer than anticipated.

Bombers by 17

GWS v Geelong

Cats by 83

Crows v Swans

Swans by 11

GC v North

North by 21

St Kilda v West Coast

A few 'upset' chances here - Carlton over Essendon, Gold Coast over North, maybe even St Kilda over West Coast given how the Eagles are travelling.

Definitely agree with that.

Carlton/Essendon seems to be a toss of a coin - and in recent meetings thev've tended to be blowouts. I think they're due a tussle, but I think Essendon just love the G.

Gold Coast have been mighty the last month but, I hope (?), North have finally turned a corner. GC have disappointed twice this season in similar matches (against Port and Freo) so it'll be interesting to see how they hold up.

WC and St Kilda would've had a lot of soul searching this week. They'll be out to prove a point and St Kilda have shown they can shut pretenders down at Etihad. But I think WC are too dangerous in the middle for them with handy goal kickers and I find it hard to go against NN and Cox.

Having said all that, I wouldn't be surprised with any results going against my tips. I also think GWS may be a little plucky agaisnt a sluggish Geelong and Melbourne will be more competetive against an over-rated Collingwood than many predict (but they'll still annihilate us).

Agree 45HG this season the dees really have killed any joy I had in watching footy and even other teams too.

57 point loss as Darryl Kerrigan would say "tell'em he's dreamin"

Will be another 90 plus loss I reckon.

one of my friends actually think melbourne will only lose by 20 points this week!

2 people voted for MFC to actually win!

Love the passion but just want 1/2 a kilo of what you are both on. As I would make a fortune!

This is the round for us to stand up. We've had some significant off-field tension to keep things lively, the coach has survived and now it's time for the team to stand up and show the world that the club is moving in the right direction. Couple that with the poor form of the Pies' defenders and we could turn this into a shoot-out and get away with an upset. Dees in a thriller.

Geez Carlton are soft.

That first half was disgusting. Boring, soft and poorly-skilled I left at half time and was glad I did even with the big finish.

Cats are such a weird team. Continuously playing single quarters that get the job done.

Swans destructive against the Crows - led by 99 late on 126-27 before taking the foot right off.

Geelong are toying with their form and are due to get beaten. Level with GC at three quarter time, in Geelong, then level with GWS 5 minutes before three quarter time. GWS had lost its previous four games by 83+. Their last four games have all been one quarter efforts - Collingwood (third quarter only, lost because of it), Port Adelaide (ripped them apart in the first quarter, foot off the gas after that), GC (fourth quarter blitz) and GWS (fourth quarter again). The bye might do them good, and Brisbane the week after, before big games against Fremantle and Hawthorn.

Gold Coast are on fire. Not sure how they'll go against Essendon, but after their bye they then have three winnable games - Adelaide at home, Brisbane and Richmond (in Cairns). Could well grab two of those three and be 7-8.

North's season's probably shot now, with their next game against Fremantle in Perth, likely to make them 4-8. Still got to play Richmond and Carlton, before a last three of Essendon, Hawthorn and Collingwood. Don't think they can get enough wins to push past the logjam of teams in the 6-12 bracket.

I have 4 out of 4 so far but only because I voted 5 minutes ago.

Looking at the battle for the eight, I suspect that whichever of WCE, Carlton or Adelaide has the easiest draw could stumble into 8th place with the rest settled. Wild card might be Gold Coast if they can keep it up.

There's something going on with umpiring and West Coast games.

Terrible calls in the last quarter. Weekly!

Damn... was hoping the eagles lost.

Can anyone foresee the scenario of the eagles missing the eight, then deciding not to renew worsfold's contract, then the dees stepping in with a four year term he can't refuse?

He does fit the category of experienced coach who has had success.

5 from 5 in the tipping so far, and only missed the carlton and ess margin by 6 :)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
