Often our club is derided for not having any true leaders, and often Colin Sylvia is smashed by the media and supporters alike for never standing up when it counts and liking it all his own way.

Well we all know where we were heading at 3 quarter time today... and at the start of the fourth quarter when Col ran through about five blokes through the centre square his teammates visibly lifted and the self belief really began to re-emerge.

This guy was immense in the last quarter despite cramping like crazy and he worked his butt off to create opportunities for his teammates in the forward 50.

It's only GWS and haters... you keep hating.. but Col (with a few mates) lead our club to victory today.

Yep. He's a diamond-studded, gold-plated half-empty box of Belgian chocolates. You just never know what you're gonna get (and half the time you get nothing at all), but every now and then you fall in love with this guy all over again.

Said last year I would have liked to have seen him in the leadership group, give him some responsibility and see how he reacts. He can really lift us.

Too bad he only ever plays well against bottom 4 teams. All credit to him today, but I want to see him stand up next week, the week after, and the week after that. He has all the tools, and it's games like today that frustrate me because we got to see how good he is when he wants to be.

Every person that's watched a minute of AFL knows that when Col Sylvia is on, he is a very difficult player to beat. Problem is you can count how many times he's on for a year on one hand. Consistency has always been, and always will be his issue.

I thought his first quarter was good as well. Thought he led hard and chased a bit but could not grab the ball when trying to mark.

Have to give credit to the senior players in Sylvia, Jones, Byrnes etc that lead the way for the younger blokes today.

His ceiling exceeds all other midfielders on our list, by a long way. He's the only true A-grade player we have right now (though Viney and others may get there later).

His inability to get into the game in the first three quarters was part of the reason we were so uncompetitive. His ability to get involved in the fourth is part of the reason we became a much better side.

I'm a hater and one performance against the worst club in the league isn't enough to change his attitude in the past but the last 10 games have been promising and hopefully a start to changing his future.

He has reignited that little bit of hope inside me that he could be a star, foolish I know.
