From my experience a team must be willing to fight , with fists , or keep getting shoved around and whipped.

Is this out-dated?

Biff, I can't help but think this question is in some way connected to the inside word you heard about the club today. Am I way off?

It starts with a great Board/Administration. If they are great, they will almost definitely make all the right appointments.

Those appointments should then make all the right decisions = Successful on field team.

It always starts from the top.

Strength and respect.

Sow real strength and leadership from the president down, the respect will be there and when you respect the people you work harder and push through barriers to make sure you have their respect and don't let anyone down. As Macca said, it starts from the top.

The meesage I got was cryptic .

I support Neeld personally but I have no idea what the inner sanctum thinks.

I'm guessing we could be getting a new coach soon if things don't improve.

The new coach may not be so new to the AFL ,or the Demons .

or I could be reading too much into it .

I agree with you but no person or organisation is going to make the right decisions all the time. I think its just as important how you respond or correct your mistskes

Yeah, you're right. Meant it as a general rule and probably should have been more specific. Made an adjustment.

In regards to the original question I'll say this:

I don't remember what year the Eagles drug crisis got out of hand, but I can tell you they won the flag in 06.

Success in sport is winning and winning only. Right or wrong the rest is just filler.

It was on the end of season trip that year that FLetcher flatlined in Vegas

Neil daniher?

He did get us playing good old fashion footy.

Pity he let our list collapse to shite.

He should be re-interviewed, maybe he is all we can afford, and we know he can coach. Good for club morale aswell.

I'd rather Paul Roos.

I beg to differ they knew there was a problem with Cousins when Judge brought it to their attention in 2001, he was moved on. Worsfold has been quoted in Bens documentary saying they new there we serious problems with him in June 2006, they continued playing him, they won the flag but look how he ended up They chose glory over the health of one of their players & that is why they are hated in the west. They turfed him out when he became an embarrassment to them. Fletcher flat lined in Vegas in off season 2006.

The club needs to start with clear values and goals that are strong, consistent and never compromised (integrity)

The team needs to have clear expectations and goals that are never compromised. Non negotiables must be commitment, courage and pride. These three things must be the standard, not the exception. If it's good enough for the Swans, why shouldn't it be the expectation at our club? Players should never walk off the park feeling like they didn't give everything they possibly could for the team. Supporters should never,EVER feel embarrassed by their teams effort.

Individuals (players) must know what the expectation's of the club and the team are. It must be clear, there can be no ambiguity. This relates to both their role within the team (which must be clearly defined) and their behaviours away from the team. Individual interests will always be placed behind the teams (and above all the club's) best interests.

And as a result the AFL took the premiership off them?

The prosecution rests. ;)

(I didn't say I agree with it, I just said that's how our culture measures success in sport)

You know the answer but the Premiership is forever tainted their supporters know it, Woosha and that dog Nisbett know it and they all hate it ever being brought up to this day. There is nothing they can ever do to change it

Mostly starts with the supporters & a handfull of management when the club is first born.

Just like a child, the first 3 Yrs are the ones where the character is formed...

A club that has started life with a silver spoon is always going to lack the hunger & the guts.

too change it is a perennial task... just as it is for the saints to see themselves as winners.

We are still in the grip of the defeatism that the club has suffered from since the early 70's.

too shift it will be very difficult.

To maintain a healthy one, once we grow it, will be like an alcoholic on the wagon, a constant vigil to keep it strong.

they're not born, or voted in. they grow & evolve into stronger units just as teams do.

Luke Ball, Scott Pendelbury, JOBE WATSON..these guys make organisations successful by the way they go about their business.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
