2005 losing the last 5 games after being on top in round 18 was the WORST of our culture.

Right there.

That was 2004. 2005 we sneaked into the finals by winning our last 3 games against Geelong, Bulldogs & Essendon by a combined margin of about 14 points.

That win against Bulldogs was so special.

I miss that feeling.

Yep 2004-05-06 were all finals bound. My point exactly.

But never back it up the following year.

^Right there!

We are in the position we are in, not because of Schwab, McLardy or any of the current Board it is purely the neglect and absolute incompetence of many of the previous Boards and their appointed Managers.

We spent years in the wilderness because we put up with 50's and 60's style Boards/Managers who were well meaning but so far out of their depth it didn't matter.

We should never have been headquartered at the Junction Oval and that caused the club to deteriorate, almost to the point of extinction.

You obviously have no understanding of the history of this club and it shows in your ignorance of past issues.

We now need to hire someone that isnt a melbourne person, doesnt have mates at the club and he can be from another sport. We just need someone new and fresh.

Don at least could have had a tie on. You can tell the last few weeks have been dragging him down and lets face it he probably didnt want to be president but sadly circumstances forced him to be.

Finally Schwab admits the club handled James McDonald wrong and should have kept him. Well duh

Did you actually read what I said and do you have in fact the intelligence to understand what I referred to? Talk about zero credibility you have zero competence.

I referred to previous Boards, you know the ones who allowed the club to fall in to a state of disrepair in the late 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Do you have any understanding at all of our history?

Why do you think we fell from being the most powerful club in the VFL to the worst in the AFL; do you think it's all Schwab's fault?

Get a clue.

The first job of the CEO is to find us a new President

Thanks Don but your time is up

The CEO doesn't pick the President. The Board picks the President. The Board also picks the CEO.

Thanks Roost it I think your time is up.,,,,

Yeah i do have fair grasp of our history, you are a very slippery customer RF, the other day your bitching about CC and CS,but a few weeks before that you were putting your balls on the line through the tank investigation, then you blame the past administrations on what ever you can, your a comedian, whos fault is it, the 60,s was 5 decades ago, why dont you blame the current board, you backed Schwab through the tanking investigation and eventually YOU lost.

I think was right you haven't got a clue and talk about slippery, I also mentioned the 90's, want to talk about that or weren't you around then?

Remember 1996 when we were so broke the Board wanted to merge the club to save it? I stood up for the club in the tanking issue I guess the difference is you didn't.

Remember the 70's when we had nothing, hardly won a game and our supporter group started to die off? How many Boards in that time let the club down and allowed us to slip in to oblivion.

But it's all Schwab's fault.

We used to treat Hawthorn with disdain and now they wouldn't [censored] on us.

Your last comment sums you up; YOU lost. No idiot, the club lost you just can't see the difference.

Now [censored] off I'm not interested in giving you a lesson in our history; look it up.

I backed CS and CC over the issue of tanking, I expressed my disappointment over the fact they they and THE REST OF THE CLUB, didn't even acknowledge the contributions of their members.

Now even a fool can see the difference but I guess you're not even a fool.

Want to talk about the 90's Pete?

Old timer; that the best you can do? Maybe get your mum to read my posts to you and perhaps she will be able to explain them in a way you'll understand, although I doubt it.

Fanbob ran off in to the night when Schwab was cleared in the tanking issue, what you're doing is trying to rewrite history.

As I said you haven't got a clue and the more shrill you become the more stupid you sound.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
