Guys can we all take a breath and calm down.

The only thing worst than "The tragic downfall of Liam Jurrah" is the level of debate on this thread.

I am with mjt here. I think all people should abide by the same rules.

I do not agree with different set of rules and laws based on the color of your skin.

There aren't separate rules, hence why Liam is in court.

Sorry, just got the impression people were implying that their should be in a sence when talking about his background and such.

I certainly have no issue with that.. what I do have an issue with however, are the likes of ThreeOneSix and mjt presuming guilt without having any of the facts available to them. If they are going to insist on one set of laws, then they must also insist on LJ's right to be judged innocent until PROVEN guilty.

Yeah, some here like the notion of that, but reality is the law applies to all. Other things are taken into consideration, sure, but the law is the law.

Sorry Old Dee, but when someone effectively states an accused is guilty before a trial they need to be criticized. This is one of our basic freedoms, fought for over centuries. If they think they can justify their medieval position by saying the legal system is screwed or comparing it to a government they don't like, then they need to go live somewhere where there is no rule of law. I doubt mjt would enjoy that unless his buddies were running the place.

BTW Olisik, I don't think anyone has argued that the rules should depend on the colour of your skin. I thought people were referring to understanding an individual's circumstances. The law is the law, but if courts don't take into account an individual's circumstances, you end up transporting a starving mother for stealing a bit of bread or her kids.

But you are right old dee - a spell is in order -there is little point in arguing with some people on these sorts of issues.

Your outrage ( warranted) is getting lost by your classification. Attack the education, level of ignorance and intellect of the poster and the only thing you can be accused of is being smarter.

What do you classify yourself as? Just exactly who do you accept advice from?

I'd have to say that is a pretty racist comment to make and I hope you regret it.

Prosecution witness saying he saw Basil Jurrah armed with a machete and with a gang of his own, before he was hurt. Also said he didn't see Liam hit Basil and that he was half tanked. If he is the standard of witness for the prosecution in this trial Liam will be ok.

From a long way away.....I can't see how this case will be proved.......Most of the witnesses on both side were under the influence of Alcohol.....

The real evidence will be somewhere between The prosecution and the defence's stories......It's just who the jury believes.......

I'm a white Australian who bemoans our lack of engagement with our aboriginal people.

I take advice from people more intelligent than me

You can read my remarks regarding my supposed racism above

That doesn't narrow the field much.

So any one who disagrees with you fits in to that category do they?

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
