The delay could also be in relation to seeking clarification from verious stakeholders such as gaming commission and sponsors as to how particular finding would impact the club to determin out willingness to accept them.

You blokes need to take your blinkers off and realise that if that is the outcome 1) we would have negotiated for it and 2) we should take it and run. It might make you feel good short-term but it would be utterly irresponsible of the club to waste resources fighting that and if the current admin did (which I do not believe they will at all) they should be out on their arses. Realise you need to take a pragmatic approach and all the huffing and puffing about court action would have been for the sole purpose of getting this outcome (should it eventuate). Suspended sentences and a short time in the sin bin for DB & CC and a small fine for the club (we could knock it off in one night of fundraising) would be an outstanding outcome compared to what might have been (banishment from early rounds of multiple drafts). It's not ideal, of course we'd all like to get off completely, but given the circumstances I would mark that outcome down as a win and get on with moving the club forward and letting Neeld get on with the footy.

I know what you think Dr. G....If the club rolls over to these charges they have had their last membership from me.

I think the AFL have measured their finding & penalty to make it awkward for us to fight, as the fight would cost more than the penalty in money terms.

They are desperate for a club to carry the moral burden of their #()ck Up... The AFL Commission didn't instigate tanking in the game & then condone it.

Rubbish they didn't!

I want to find out what is to become of Connolls, from the club.

It does nothing of the sort - you don't even know what the specifics of the findings might be but I can guarantee the club would not be found guilty of "tanking" or "match-fixing".

Kill the club is hyperbole to the extreme - what would kill the club is taking on city hall in a protracted court case when we would be trying to get off on technicalities. This outcome will have minimal to no effect on sponsorship but continued negative publicity due to a court case definitely would.

Do you think our President's words could have been chosen to have the effect of ensuring the penalties on the club and individuals would be minimal? It's bluster to scare the AFL into thinking we will do it - it's no use having nuclear bombs if no-one thinks you will use them but you'd be utterly insane to.

Pull Down those strides Dr. G....stand in the corner & await your punishment....Fumbling the ball....a legiimate charge hey.

We'll see. If those are the penalties I guarantee you we won't take it to court.

Ironic how you talk about fighting to the end and then say you won't buy another membership if they make a decision you disagree with...

Have you seen/read the investigation report given to the club? If not I'd like to know how you know "fumbling the ball" made up a key, if any, component of the AFL's findings against us.

I'm not having a go at you WYL, you're a loyal Demon and we need plenty more like you. I'm just trying to show that, while not preferable, being pragmatic about the situation the club would do well to just put this behind us with minimal penalties and get on with focusing the entire club on winning games of footy.

I'm starting to get really frustrated from 7 months of a investigation and 7 months of garbage opinions of some in the media. Fair dinkum 7 months! It takes 9 months to create human life it should not take nearly just as long to investigate a allegation. I'll say it again FAIR DINKUM!

If while holidaying in Saudi Arabia I become embroiled in a case of mistaken identity and end up facing the death penalty for a murder I didn't commit, but manage to negotiate my way to paying a fine instead and having a bit of a stain on my criminal record, I take it and get the hell out of there.

I say we embrace the "tankers" label and paint one red and blue and drive in the MCG and park it in that ramp area and shoot the cannon each time we kick a goal, razzle dazzle and all that stuff.

Could even shoot caro dolls out of the cannon

You can walk away forever or enjoy crow for lunch for a while. It may taste better if we start winning. As for DM he's just a [censored].

It's difficult to say who has come out ahead if we look at the big picture. GWS gave away $5m for TS who cost us $500,000 not to get. TS would be one of the winners on $25,000 a kick I would say. Essendon may have to negotiate right through the home and aways before the AFL judiciary eases up on the straight re their case.

Ha! Let's just assume planet Earth is the AFL in this analogy. I didn't spend long thinking it up. Clearly.

Hmm, blow up caro dolls.

What would we do with them.

Could we bring darts with us?

Lety out all that hot air. Probably mostly methane, but nothings perfect?

Those charges deserve to be fought....that is all i can say...if we do not do it, then the club will remain fractured....now is the time to stand.

I get what you're saying mate, I really do. But I think the reality of the situation is that while fighting (something I will back the club 100% if it comes to it) will probably hurt the club with it being played out for so long and so publicly. If there is a way to come out of this with a fine that we can cop and no loss of draft picks then I believe we should accept it and move on. The best thing for the club is to get this done once and for all.

The massive key is that we don't get done for tanking or engaging in match fixing. Because the ramifications of that with the gaming commission would be disastrous.

Tune into Fox Footy if you're not already, apparently they're gonna discuss some "breaking news" after this game.

Though the media being what it is I wouldn't hold my breath it's more than what was in Caro's article.

Yes, they just mentioned they will be having something about the "tanking affair" in the next few minutes.

Could someone keep the poor people like myself (who don't have Fox Footy or even Foxtel for that matter) updated?

Cheers.

Paraphrasing very quickly what was said, but here it is:

Mentioned CW's latest article and her assumed penalties.

Robbo spoke to AD on phone a short while ago and claims to have no knowledge of any penalties.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
