What song should the Demons run out to?

AFL used this for one of their commercials a few years ago. They would have the rights to it. Easy access, and brings out the strong Irish heritage. This would be the way to go

nice Irish tie in... like it :)

Deeluded suggested it on Page 2 BB59

missed that

Spot on Deeluded :)

thanks WA

Some seem to be missing the Theatre of it all. Its a chance to engae the supporters, get a voice happening.. Give it atmosphere. It needs to be relatively simple with gusto..

hell even a 5yo can go Na-na-na-na-naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. and join in with Thunder...by anyones admission it needs no great intellect.

But would that echo around the G,!!!

It has to have several elements. Simple, powerful riffs and crescendos, audible and coherent lyrics if to be any..and something thats not inciting death or maming goats etc. It has to be accessible across many generations.

Anyhow..is only an idea :)

Another element is it probably has to have something to do with the Demons image. "Thunderstruck" is used by the storm, "Welcome to the jungle" has been used before the Tigers, don't really see the point in singing something similar to another team's image.

Pleeeeeeeease can people think outside of either "eye of the tiger" or any ACDC song...

Maybe something a little more cerebal for your preciousness ( thinkabout that first )

A little AIDA could be reworked along these lines ?? lol

In a perfect world we'd have no loud intrusive adverts . No water boys on the ground . Limited use of the 'runner' . No fireworks or bells and whistles . A few hard driving rock songs up until about 15-20 minutes before the game may not be for everyone but as of right now there's nothing but loud adverts and the overuse of ground announcements . We're never going to go back to curtain raisers so it's ads or music - easy choice really .

The songs would need to be reasonably familiar to people who like either retro or new (or for those who appreciate both) . So it's mainstream rock (or pop) .

Having said all that if they played the following track by Marilyn Manson I wouldn't be complaining ... this gets me pumped ...

Ok, I think I might have at last found something that will please a big selection of supporters, encompassing the classical muse in Strauss, the visual arts in Kubrick's 2001 a Space Odessy, and those who just like a good tune...and the beauty of this is that the bugler doesn't have to step aside; he can play along karaoke style.

While I totally agree with Martin Flanagan's comments about US style sports hype having no place in our game, and don't want songs after goals or halftime, I feel the club song should be reserved for a win, to sing it before the game always felt like a jinx. So I wouldn't mind a run out song as long as it is:

1. Australian

2. Not metal (and friends, I respect your love of Slayer et al. but not everyone quite gets it)

3. Not pop, not opera, am sorry but this needs Bass, no Ride of the Valkyries. (I love Paul Kelly, MFTCC etc but its not a run out song)

Maybe a PM should be sent to RR to organize a special poll for this.

I reckon there have been some ace suggestions, but am with Deeludued and BB59 - Thunderstruck is timeless, I would love the Dropkick Murphys, reckon its a ripper song but not Aussie, same goes for some others like RATM, White Stripes (Icky Thump), so many others

As a smoky Midnight Oil has a few good riffs that always get me fired up on a run. Thought about Spiderbait etc but again don't think it would grab enough of the mob (also as much as I like 'fuckin awesome' as a song if we had a poo game... well the puns I can live without)

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
