THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo

I agree that disgruntled ex-employees talked to the tanking investigators. I even referred to those who have been named in the media ...

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/33594-new-ceo/?p=737608

But Jack claims on the basis inside information which he can't divulge, that this is either not the people involved or not all the people involved ...

http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/33594-new-ceo/?p=737614

That's fine if it's confidential, but put or shut up ...

Now is this thread he's mischieviously raised the Mifsud/Davey/Neeld matter. Far from shutting the conversation down I requested he provide us all with the benefit of his knowledge. But again he has refused to explain.

Really it's reminiscent of Dr.Who's Scully to Richmond rumours. Long on mystery, short on substance.

Unlike Caro, WJ is not a highly paid journo. Forgive me if I am wrong WJ. Other than stating "sources close to the club", Caro did not come up with a scintilla of hard evidence. She put the elephant in the room, no-one else did and she did it in an effort to enhance her waning standing in the media. Once this happened, the AFL had to be seen to be proactive.

We were the sacrificial lambs. Now, to use the word "unsubstantiated" and not apply it equally to journos like Caro is to ignore simple reality. As someone said sometime ago on D/Land and did so cogently, journalists are in the media. They ought MEDIAte news and distill the facts, not extrapolate it for their own ends. It is when such rigour lacks in journalism, that an article printed in the mainstream media becomes the story, not the substance of what they write, which they claim to be the story.

A pox on all their houses I say.

Maybe I'm thick or just really poor at reading between the lines, but with all this to and froing between a few men I have immense respect for, I still haven't managed to pinpoint exactly who is accusing who of what.

I think it's just a case of the attack dogs coming out if anyone defends the current board and suggests that there are elements within the club that are seeking to destabalise it.

There are no faceless men, according to the attack dogs, but for some reason Fanbob keeps referring to them anyway.

I see Jack Watts splitting a pack - is that good?

Tremendous.

And I'd like to make clear that you are a picture of good judgement and sound mental health.

You see a toad behind a giant rubber?

What is in that cheese? Or should I say "cheese"?

This is not news to anyone here but the arrogance of this lady to appoint herself some sort of moral arbiter is profound. I actually sympathise with James Hird because I'm so fed up with the tirade of abuse she hurls. She has become the ultimate lawn mower even beyond Patrick Smith. James deserves to be rubbed out and I think the penalties are about right (and wouldn't mind if they were harder because I hate Essendon) but please any bright legal ideas for getting this hag to shut up! I have often wondered what she has got on the fat controller as well?

You're kidding right?

Hird was primarily responsible for the implementation of a supplements program that at best he failed to supervise and manage appropriately and at worst was an illegal drug program. Either way he's put the careers and health of his players at risk. The program was so poorly managed that the Club and club doctor can't even tell you which players took what supplements.

Hird is being portrayed as a hero by Burnside because he accepted a 12 months suspension and EFC have been stupid enough to extend his coaching tenure by 2 years the day he was found guilty.

Wilson calls him out on it and highlights the stupidity of the situation. She's not being some sort of moral arbiter, she's expressing the concerns of the majority of clear thinking people. Think about it. You've an employee who has disgraced your club and threatened the health of your players, cost you $2 million and draft picks and admits his involvement in it and you extend his contract the day he's found guilty.

Far from being a moral arbiter Wilson has been mild in her critique. If it was anyone but Hird you'd never see them in football again.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
