THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo

Not really one for the Wilson file but didn't want to bump the other thread about tanking allegation. Lets call it the Steven file:

Melbourne Demons sweat on tanking computer raid

Nothing new but made me laugh. Apparently the dees are sweating about an 'unprecedented computer raid'.

About two paragraphs down Steven notes the investigators are now looking at our files again after completing the review of the files and documents related to their other unprecedented computer raid - ie the Crows/Tippet investigation.

Firstly, this from the 'Message from the President' thread earlier in the year, where you contributed prior to McLardy being interviewed On the Couch: -

I'd like Paul Roos to ask McLardy two questions tonight.

1. How many applicants did MFC interview (full presentations) for the job for the senior coaching position. Was Sanderson one of them.

2. Why is it necessary for the club to go back to square one after 4 years of rebuilding under Bailey in light of the fact that the Stynes Board extended his contract in February 2010. If Bailey was the wrong coach why didn't they sack him before the 2010 season.

Apart from that I think a message was necessary but it should have said something enlightening rather than the predictable platitudes.

I look forward to OTC with interest.

A timely response from that thread: -

I'm sick of people with axes to grind continually rocking the boat

there is a time and place for grievances. public sniping and leaking is disloyalty

Looks like Roos and Sheahan liked my question Daisy and McLardy's response was damning.

Did you submit any other questions to the OTC team throughout the year? ie.Brocks brain fade moment?

Do you really think I have any influence over what happens at the MFC?

Enlighten us....

If we are "getting things to rights" now and are being investigated it's actually a perfect time to do what we need to do. I don't want to go through all this and then face more disruption later. If there needs to be change now is the perfect time - we can get it all over and done with and start afresh. This affair has tainted us whether we like it or not and that taint won't go unless there are changes in senior personnel.

You seem like you've been a busy bee. I hope you're not serving the queen bee?
There's been talk here of democracy. On the issue of determining whether certain people at the club should go, there is an AGM and you can nominate yourself for election rather than go underground and dob on the club to the media. It's that sort of thing we need to wipe out before anything else.

When it comes to a poor culture, infighting and political agenda's are a big part of it. You've spoken about this affair having tainted us.... That it has.

As for mismanagement within the club? That question will I guess be answered, but for now it's all systems go for the incumbent. And I dare say they'd be more efficient if they didn't have to put up with this sort of disturbance.

in her latest article Tippett legal demand to be set free, Wilson has the following to say regarding Chris Judd and Visy:-

"There has been no suggestion that Carlton wrote to Visy to set up the deal."

For someone who is meant to be an investigative journalist she is shocking at missing the obvious - which is that Carlton's president at the time, Richard Pratt, was also in charge of Visy and that even now, Mrs. Pratt is the Vice President.

Surely, Wilson can add 2+2?

This is the last straw for me. I thought she had some credibility, but I won't believe a word she writes from now on (assuming I'm bothered to read it). She is either a fool, in thrall of someone at Carlton or trying to insert the 'suggestion' by the underhand method of saying no one has made it. Either way, she should hang her head in shame. Where is the Age editor?

I'd be surprised if they found anything on computers.

Are they looking for "Tanking for Dummies" pdf or something.

Stinga silly things have happened.

I never cease to be amazed at what a lot of people commit to email.

Look at what people write on facebook and Tweeter.

Very clever business people have been caught out by sending emails.

The FD during was not full of rocket scientists in 2009 so don't be too confident.

Unlike rorting the salary cap what we 'conspired' to do was within the rules.*

Perhaps I did not explain well rpfc

I was commenting on Stinga saying they won't find any evidence on computers.

I was suggesting that people often write silly things on email.

I was not commenting on our guilt or otherwise.

Simple because you or I would not make silly statements on email does not mean others would not.

Hope that makes sense

What I am saying is that what they would find on a CC email is hardly as troublesome as a Trigg email.

One will stipulate the need to legally play kids, the other one will stipulate the need to illegally pay kids.

You might be right Old dee, what's that's saying about not going wrong underestimating the intelligence of people?

But as i have posted before CW suggests that the IT people went into the club in October. Let's say for arguments sake it was mid October, that's nearly six weeks, perhaps linger. Seriously, given they are presumably just searching fro incriminating emails and documents (as opposed to some super encrypted secret tanking file that only the greatest tech minds could unlock) surely they would have found something by now.

I mean how long does it take to do a document search? Even it meant someone actually reading through all the emails from key (or even peripheral) staff that were sent from the club in 2009, surely to goodness it would be completed by now. How many could there feasibly be?

I don't disagree with you binman.

Experience has shown me humans often do dumb things.

And the MFC is made up of humans

I will believe we are home free when the AFL comes out and says so until then I am on edge.

How she can write this I have no idea.

And it is such a strange sentence as to give her an 'out' if anyone calls on her on it.

'Suggested' by who? Who has 'not suggested' anything?

'Wrote to VISY'? So they can have chats with their leadership privately? It certainly would be easy - the people that ran Carlton were the same people that ran VISY!

'Oh, but they didn't write anything down, rpfc! Something is only 'conspired' if people write or type things down! And use a mailing service!'

God I am sick of the footy media.

Fair call old dee. I'll sometimes receive an email that has been forwarded which has a long chain of other emails in it. Its amazing what can be in the emails buried several below the first one.

I wonder what Fans's reaction would be if an incriminating email was found sent from a key FD staffer?

Got to say that this puts me on edge too. It would be amazing if something potentially incriminating hasn't hit the airwaves - even if only as an extension of Connolly's sense of humour.

Surely the AFL wouldn't still be going ( with no completion date in sight) if they didn't think they had a chance of nailing us.

I am hanging my hat on the fact that they do not want to be caught out down the track because they missed something that surfaces after they finish.

So they will take their time.

Also I think they are probably a bit busy at present on other things.

Well that is my hope and I am clinging to it.

i'd guess they are looking for emails and medical reports

so much for personal confidentiality

I think they want to penalise us, to placate the rest of the AFL supporters re the priority pick, & to exonerate vlad & anderson in the eyes of the public.

But they don't want to open up a pandoras box, so are looking for enough dirt to get our admins to except a prescribed punishment, with out a fight.

They don't want us to take it to court & open up a wider investigation AFL wide.

They want us to Lay down, as I'm sure they expected us to do.

Now we see this going on > http://www.news.com....k-1226519884959

ANOTHER 15 Carlton players were paid by Visy this year to be environmental ambassadors.

AFL to meet with unhappy Judd

Just days after the AFL demanded Chris Judd's third-party payments by Visy must be included in the club's salary cap, it was uncovered yesterday that other players were paid to be part of the "Enviromaniacs" program.

The deals centred around attending school clinics to promote Visy's message.

They are employment agreements approved by the AFL and there is no suggestion they constitute salary cap cheating.

One player agent last night downplayed the roles, saying the players were paid "chicken feed" and that Judd's deal was totally unrelated to the others.

The AFL last night assured the Herald Sun the deals did not break salary cap rules.

Carlton officials were not available for comment.

If they investigate the other clubs for 'tanking' just as intensely as the MFC the inquiries would go on for 5 or more years

So what is their strategy?

[a] no case to answer, change some draft rules (lottery) hope it blows away

case to answer, token agreed penalties

[c] case to answer, come down heavy, mfc lawyers get involved, [censored] fight ensues, media love it

[d] case to answer, inquiry expanded to any/all AFL clubs, bad for everyone (but at least fairer)

I'd like to believe [a] but it does seem to be escalating. Can't believe they would go for [d] at least not to same intensity

If it was would you like to bend over and cop it. I wouldn't

[c] would seem a lose/lose situation and disastrous for us even if we came through on top

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
