We went on a walk through a part of Kakadu a few weeks ago. It was about 37oC, with humidity of around 70%.

Also, we saw a family of wild pigs and a crocodile. With the Wet Season well and truly here, and Kakadu being comprised of a lot of flood plains, I hope their walk is somewhat elevated. The crocs only multiply during the wet as the water levels rise, so I also hope they have a gun (or at least the sense to stay away from water's edge).

Mahoney says that research indicates there are benefits to training in humidity. Anyone know what the theory is behind that?

Yeah. The beer tastes so much better afterwards.

Given your professed love of Andrew Bolt that's not surprising (though i reckon Lance Armstrong would be a Republican)

Hahaha, what, love of the bolt?

Your kidding, take him up there with us, maybe we can take him for a swim.

I have a particular fondness for anyone that makes complete sense every time they comment. It's a particularly admirable trait.

Then I look at those that despise him, which includes posters on Demonland such as Biffen, Deeluded and WYL.

In anything was ever a rolled gold stamp of approval...

I didn't think much of his ideal dinner guests.

I loved his selection of ideal dinner guests.

It warmed the cockles of my pinko greenie heart.

I'm thinking more like a Mitt Romney, Tony Abbott, Cadel Evans kind of guy.

That's the problem. You don't "think" well enough.

Romney surprised by performing reasonably well under difficult circumstances, which included an orchestrated campaign of character assassination, but there'd have to be better Republican candidates. So no.

For a Rhodes Scholar Abbott makes too many mistakes and tries too much to appease the chattering classes with an equally ridiculous carbon dioxide policy. Even if it's more palatable. And now he's allowing a misogyny campaign to bite while he sits looking like a deer in headlights. I would have brutalised Gillard for her appalling policies and waste of public money. He's been way too soft on this disastrous Prime Minister. There's a real lack of talented leaders in the Liberal party. So it's a no to dinner.

And while I have the utmost respect for Cadel Evans' achievements if there's a more boring person walking the planet I'd be fascinated to know who it is. So it's no to dinner with Cadel.

Looking forward to your next "thoughts".

I had no intention of raising your ire by contributing something so trivial. Your response though, is amusing to say the least B-H.

These are my thoughts...

I'm bored.

Happy to engage.

I'll give you one clue. The lovely lass in my avatar gets a gig.

If that's the case, I don't think you'd be inviting any pollies, mainly because they wouldn't have your full attention. And of course they would be wasting your time. All things considered given your admiration for the lass.

I guess the question you would like to answer is....who are your other two guests that you would like at the dinner table?

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Unfortunately, didn’t quite get there although he did finish equal sixth in Casey’s best and fairest award. Date of Birth: 23 February 1999 Height: 198cm Games CDFC: 14 Goals CDFL: 13

Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress.
