So no Darwin game next year?

It's not clear. Neeld said that they expect to spend more time in Darwin:

It was about this time last year that the 2012 game was announced:

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/125382/default.aspx

So, the deal was for two games in 2010-12, though we ended up playing three. I suppose it is up to MFC to determine if it should continue.

On a selfish note, I'm really hoping for a game in Darwin in 2013, as my brother has moved there.

A home game against Port is out. Would they give up one of their home games? Or would we play Freo or Brisbane? Does the other team have to agree to be the 'away' team?

I think we got the extra game because Richmond canned theirs.

lol...if we lose an opening match against Port at the G...oh boy. Wowee!

I wonder what BT would say ... oh ...

They better get the Demonland server nice and strong for this game.

If we lose, this place will implode.

If we win, this place will... well... implode with deluded unrealistic declarations of success.

Tragically I'm looking forward to this game and for the "new" team and game style to hit the road.

There is not way it could be worse than this year (i.e. Jimmys funeral and a belting) and though it may not be kosher to say this, I think we have a far better list than our results in 2012 indicated, and in 2013 we shall be playing without the handbreak on.

i might even fly over for this, the basket-case cup!

The one positive this year apart from Mitch Clark was that 2012 was our bottoming out on the pitch. If were competitive in 2013 and win more games than we lose then it will be a pretty decent year.

You don't remember 2007,8,9 and 11 ID?

They were very good bottoming years too

We won 5 games in 07,3 in 08,4 in 09 and if you take out the wins against the Gold Coast Suns we won 6 games in 2011 although that was the year of the 186.Apart from the suns and GWS we only beat one established club this year in Essendon. So as bad as the 07 09 and 2011 seasons were i think this year was well and truly our bottoming out season.

good point. and so sad.

must agree with that I.D.

2012 was abhorrent.

I might try to get down to Melbourne for it as well... one of the great things about going to this game is that if we do lose, we won't have to put up with too many smug opposition supporters ;-)

Herald Sun reports no friday night game for Melb and WB.

AFL punishing both clubs for their poor 2012 seasons.

only one way to fix that.

I suppose we can look forward to a few twilight games versus interstate teams, probably at Etihad. Ace.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
