I do not deny that Ray and Dawes will fill holes in our list. However, you don't turn around an average list by bringing in more average players. I see no point in hunting for solid C-graders. We need to bring in the B and A grade players to make a real difference to our team.

But not all of the players we bring in can be B and A graders.

Josh Kennedy, Ted Richards, Martin Mattner, Ben McGlynn etc were considered solid C-graders once...

Why do people keep saying "quick fix" is such a terrible thing? How much longer do you want to rubbish?

We'll still be drafting every year FFS.

I agree, and its not like we're damning ourselves for the future at the same time. We've got Viney already, Hogan for next year, we'll have pick 4 for a gun 18yo, we're chasing Pederson.

Dawes, Byrnes, Ray are designed to come in and have an immediate impact, which will create competition for spots.

As long as we get them for a good price, I see no problems with these acquisitions.

Farren Ray for our pick 20.

Sauce - Mark Robinson in that herald sun chat thing they have on their website.

Roflcoptering as we speak. We'd have to get pick 24 back in that deal, otherwise it'd be the worst trade in MFC history.

I would worry but Mark and his Journo;s have not got a hot tip right yet.

First it was pick 4 and 13 for Dawes and Wellingham yeah right.

then 2 first round picks for Caddy yeah doubt it.

Now this.....Ray wasnt worth pick 20 when he left the Dogs as an ex top 5 pick let alone now after playing only half a season

I heard from a source, that Robinson's been on the sauce.

Why are we getting linked with all these ridiculous trades. Again, I would be shocked if we had any intention of offering up pick 20 for Ray, and would actually be shocked if St Kilda even had the nerve to ask for it. I am all for negotiating and working towards a compromise, but pick 20 is so far over it isn't funny.

Ray was traded to St Kilda for pick 48!!!!!!! (Round 3)

Arguably he is worth slightly more now but not 20.

If thats the case it must be only half the story, there must be something coming back.

I believe he was actually traded with pick 48 in exchange for pick 31.

Wouldn't despair over using pick 46 (?) on him - more likely 64!

A better Joel Macdonald is what comes to my mind.

Ridiculous if IF true! Pick 20 for Ray...... groan

Cheezus H Christmas , I'll be happy when this apparition, bedevillment, gut wrenching trade fiasco and rumour file filled menagerie is over !

Can you please list your tipping points BH. Since the club averted your tipping point to confirm F/S Viney, I'd like to know how many more you have up your sleeve.

And just in case, one happy little black duck, how many last straws do you have?

Nope. exchange of players, or later pick, or picks.

I don't want us to give away P20 for any of the players discussed so far.

Hmmn, P35 - P40 should be around the mark. tell em they're dreamin' !

It was tongue in cheek.

I think you can safely say we are no longer in the hunt for Ray, we simply don't have any draft picks worth trading.

We will get more picks next week when we trade a couple of Players , Martin to Brisbane being one of them.

Unless Saints want him first, in which case it could be a straight swap.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
