Grant Thomas walks away from AFL

What a devastating loss to the community .

I can't see how Mifsud can claim breach of confidence with any integrity.

He should have been sacked for such a fundamental breach of Aaron Davey's privacy that was staggering and making appalling racist claims on Neeld.

Just to warn posters not to use this thread to name call or abuse Grant Thomas. Cheers

Like him loathe him, agree, disagree. he had one asset that I did like. He wasn't bound to any master. He said what he thought, right or wrong. That's rare.

Of course, it would help if he did a bit of research to back up his claims. Otherwise, he looks equally as foolish as Mifsud. You would think if you heard what he did from Mifsud that he'd make a few phone calls (particularly to the Melbourne indigenous players) before reporting the story. That should not be rare.

Walks away or couldnt get a new gig?

I swear to Dog i wont call him any names.

Another ego lost to the game, oh well, can't wait for some other journo's to follow

What?

Only an arrogant [censored] like that could possibly finagle the reverse of what the headline should be:

'AFL walks away from Grant Thomas'...

Edited by rpfc

Didn't realise that Grant had a role in footy ... I thought he was just in the media ... Is being in the footy media considered being in footy?

im been really kind here but he WONT be missed.

that is all.

Just another Denham type troll. Many more like him need to leave the industry.

Hope gag Denham can see the writing on the wall.

Next please!

.

Well he has gotten a few things wrong. Including his most recent claims against Robert Walls.

Fine to outspoken but you want to be right. Which he wasn't.

Believe it or not he was the star of the show. The others will be disappointed. Lloyd is the replacement, he will have a go, but not like Thomas, who didn't give a rat's about the AFL and therefore wasn't another of their lackeys. Must have a good business opportunity, to turn down an easy gig that involved very little time for him. I will be sorry to see him go. He was good TV.

Fierce AFL critic Grant Thomas to walk away from footy

Thomas wants to focus on business interests, the story claims.

Also mentions the clash between he and Mifsud when GT reported that Neeld treated indigenous players differently. Mifsud supposedly told him the (false) information in confidence.

The article state that he replaced Glenn Archer in FC, surely it's Wayne Carey?

No, I think Archer replaced Carey but was too mild/bland.

On SKY news this morning they said he was now the front runner for the Port gig.....???

Apart from the Neeld-Davey-Mifsud error, I liked Thomas on Footy Classified. He had good knowledge from his coaching days and he had a different point of view that he was not afraid to put. Quite often he'd see right through some of the rubbish that went on, particularly from the other media.

I will watch with interest , to see what Pretty Boy Lloyd is like but I cant see him bringing the show to life and making worthwhile watching

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
