Herald Sun reports Gysberts to be shown the door...Neeld has gone mad!!!

Tex

Tex you have my 100% support. Neeld is the greatest mistake this club has made since sacking Norm Smith. The spotlight should not be on our players, rather it should be on our coach. He must be sacked, this is a disaster.

Thread is becoming like people discussing politics, just making any outrageous comment to try and boost their position.

If this is true, then this is the last straw for me.

I cannot express my anger enough with the MFC and Mark Neeld.

I am doing my utmost to write this without swearing and abusing the above mentioned.

As if coming 16th was bad enough after we were predicted to be pushing for finals at the start of the season.

Then losing Jurrah for nothing. Really well managed there boys.

Neeld completely stuffed Moloney's year up by trying to change his game plan to being more defensive. Moloney who at 28 years old and in his absolute prime and our reigning B & F winner. Where did that get Moloney and our club??? 16th and see ya later.

Petterd... gone backwards under Neeld, who was on the verge of super stardom in my opinion.

Bennell gone backwards.

Trengove and Grimes named co-captains. Give me a break. Another terrible, terrible decision. Trengove gone backwards.

There's a theme here.

As for his pathetic game plan of hugging the boundary and kicking it into the pockets, well that really worked didn't it!!!

16th.

How about kick it to the most dangerous spot in-between FF and CHF.

Under Neelds guidance and fitness philosophy he demanded during last pres-season that players needed to build their aerobic capacity at the expense of everything else.

All we heard about was that they were running running running.

Well none of them put any bloody weight on.

Morton is still a stick.

Watts lost weight.

Cook has not developed one iota and has ended up in the VFL reserves and now both parties want out. Awesome. Well done. Another first round pick stuffed up. Jack Darling says hi.

The team has gone completely backwards under Neeld. Our game plan was pathetic.

And now I read that he wants to get rid of Gysberts.

Why? Seriously?

Is he trying to ruin our club? Gysberts is a ball magnet. He was a gun in his first few games before injury.

Gysberts needs to develop his body, just as Watts, Bennell, Cook, Morton and all our other stick figures.

How the hell are they supposed to under Neelds fanatical aerobic regime of runnning running running.

This is non-conducive to developing bodies and putting on weight.

I want Neeld out before he ruins our club anymore.

I want Gysberts to stay a Demon.

On draft day I desperately wanted Tahlia, but that moron picked Gysberts.

I haven' changed my mind on the pick, but i have conceded Gysberts was a decent pick and has massive upside once he develops a mature body.

So on the day Tahlia wins the Rising Star award I read Neeld wants Gysberts out.

I will not accept this under any circumstances. From my understanding Gysberts has been struggling all year with injury.

He thrives and excels in the Demons team. He is one that steps up easily in the highest level.

Was he given an opportunity this year by Neeld? No!!!

I will absolute spew if Gysberts is sacked or traded. There is no way we will get what he is worth.

Neeld has rocks in his head.

There is no way we should be sacking two of our lowly draft picks without developing them properly. He has no idea what he is doing.

What a pathetic year.

16th.

And we added Mitch Clarke to our team.

We went backwards enormously.

Wake up people. Stop accepting this [censored] spin.

He is absoluelty ruining this club and I want him out. I want Neeld sacked now.

Tell me ...... What do you know about Jordan Gysberts ?? Probably nothing other than seeing he does have some talent. I'll admitt that.

Do you know he has a good work ethic ? No probably not. Do you know he has a good attitude? No.

Trust me when I tell you he's a lazy and thinks that it ok and everybody else is wrong when questioned on it.

I'm not surprised one bit that this doesn't fly with neeld.

Gysberts has talent and can get to where the ball is. Reports on here (which I take with half a grain of salt) indicate the coaches aren't happy with his application however he has had an injury interrupted career particularly this year when he broke his ankle and then his jaw meaning there was little he could do to improve his fitness this year. The game he played against GC he had blown up by the third quarter and couldn't raise a trot. However considering his inability to build his fitness base due to injury I don't think he can be totally blamed for that.

I would be upset to see him go as I think he has potential however is another one of those players who we will have to put years into before he comes good. If we can trade him to someone like Geelong who can carry him for a couple of years til he hits his stride and get something decent in return it could be a win/win. Sometimes it is more about how a player fits into a club and team at this moment rather than a mere assumption that he is no good.

When did he ever have value?

More principle than fact.....

Yeah yeah yeah. Let's not put the spotlight on our precious players. Let's not put the spotlight on the perennial underperformers. Let's not put the spotlight on the downhill skiiers. Let's not put the spotlight on those who cancel training sessions. Let's not put the spotlight on those that crack up because our club finally has AFL standard training and they think it's too hard.

Let's instead put the spotlight on a first year coach who came from a flag winning club where he was directly responsible for one of the best midfields of the modern game, who pointed out the massive and long standing flaws with our club and will put his neck and career on the line to change them.

Yeah, ok. Sensible outlook

I'm happy for Neeld to be given license to move on the players he wants to, but I hope we hold on to Gysberts. As Gonzo said above, he's had a very difficult year injury wise and has a truckload of talent. Blease has been able to turn things around, I really hope we give Gysberts a chance too.

That said, I still back what Neeld is trying to do.

The spotlight should not be on our players, rather it should be on our coach.

This had me really confused so I went onto wikipedia ( I know,I know -not all that reliable) and looked up Australian Rules Football -I was shocked that the word coach wasnt mentioned once whereas the word players was mentioned too many times to count. There were countless references as to what a player should and shouldnt do but complete absense anything about the coach and his role.

Strange, no?

Why does it really matter to anyone who the players actually are. A team wins , a team loses. Its about a team

So many just dont get it.

Thankfully Neeld does.

Insomnia or over indulgence in the red wine Tex ?

At least wait until final lists are published before you can the man who is charged with turning this basket case into a competitive footy unit. Neeld came to the club with the credentials to do the job, he has experienced a full year of our incompetence and now is making decisions which some of us feel are tough but are however necessary.

Mark is far better placed to make those calls than any of us long suffering yet still passionate supporters.

Hop into the magnesium tablets tex, they are good for stress.:)

Is there a link to this information?

I doubt we'll offload Gysberts, this is just rumor until something comes from the club. Same can be said for the Cook rumors.

Hold tight, we're all so desperate for details of the clean out we're just getting a bit ahead of ourselves.

This is a horrendous argument - 'We finished 16th, now we're clearing the dead weight...Why ARGH, Let's keep the crap that got us to 16th!'

Neeld was appointed September last year, there's only so much you can do to a list in one off season, when you really have little knowledge of the players. Now Neeld has a true opportunity to put his stamp on the list and shape it in his image - give him 2013.

One example:

Colin Sylvia's second half of the season. While some may bemoan the fact he isn't kicking 5 goals a game, Sylvia transformed his game and played to the plan - this will bring dividends. Some real quality defensive work coming from no. 12, look for him to have a big year in 2013 after a lesson in what it takes to be an impact HFF in 2012

Gysberts came to PS training in awful shape. So did Blease.

Blease worked his arse off and was rewarded.

Gysberts didn't and his future is up in the air.

Face facts people: we are not in a position to let kids coast on our list.

The list will change - get over it.

I agree Gysberts is just plain lazy - fancy not doing laps of the tan with a broken ankle, just doesn't have the commitment.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
