Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

A bit kind,I didnt notice any/many skilled passages of play last night but I have in other games. Lack of forwards, goal kickers, marking tarkets, crumbers or even defensive forwards means the team is crepe and Clark isnt the saviour on his lonesome

They are AFL players Sue. Even under 14's have some skilled passages of play.

That's just silly. Put completely crap under 14's who have no hope of ever being any good against skillful under 14's and see what happens. The crap ones won't have any skillful moments, let alone dominate inside 50's for most of a quarter. So logically we are not that crappy and have some hope of being good. The question is 'if we can do it for some significant amount of the time, what do we need to do to ensure we do it for longer and better?'.

Some of you guys just refuse to see any positives just because we have had such a bad year. The rest of us can understand your frustration - we share it. Some seem to think seeing positives is a sign of supporter weakness which somehow affects the players and allows them to be 'weak'. You're dreaming if you think what people write here affects players in any way compared to what goes on inside the club.

I dont usually post but one thing that upset me last night was that when we had kicked a point no body manned up for the kickout.

All players just waited while a Dockers played ran into an open space and marked the ball kicked to him, then a Melbourne player ran across slowly to stand the mark. This happened time and time again whenever they had the ball the dockers would spread and had men everywhere by themselves whilst our players were about five to 10 yards behind them. Arrrh

This is a great point. Because Neeld & assistants would have taught this all year over & over. But the players do not do it...Why?

Do they really not care for the jumper. Fix this and it will be a positive.

I'm sick of these people throwing around this terminology that people who are unhappy are wrist slashing.

2007 we have seen 32 wins from 132 games. That's a wining percentage of 24%. Where's the good news in that.

Fitzroy had 31 from they're last 6 seasons.

People say Port's going bad they've won 49 games in the last 6 seasons.

In fact the only worse modern record was Carlton with 28 wins from 2002 to 2007 when they had sanctions for their salary cap rorts.

It's surprising punters aren't even more disgruntled.

We must demand more, expect more and hold those responsible to account.

Exactly. Little fluffy positives just don't cut it anymore. Rising up the ladder is all i am interested in.

I know that many factors mould together to create a footy club culture.

But posters on here claiming that people scrapping for positives at the end of another year of misery is the reason our team is rubbish is a bit far in my view.

Wrist slasher.

You, and those who take similar views, essentially choose to dwell on the negatives and the bad things that have befallen our club.

No one disagrees with you when you note that we've been rubbish since 2007. No one disagrees with you when you say we've had a god-awful 2012, and no one disagrees with you when you say we've got a lot of work to do.

That is all fine. But instead of harping on about the bad things, think about the good ones, and about how there are things we can look at and be happy about. We can only control what happens from here, not what's now in the past, so instead of whinging about our poor record since 2007, let's be positive and look at how to improve it going forward. And that starts with looking at what we have going for us now, and building on it.

If, as has been claimed on another thread that player managers will not talk to MFC recruiters....not much.

Why are you even surprised? How often do you think stars come on down and chat to the 16th side in the competition? We have to work to impress them, they have no obligation to talk to us, so the fact that they're not talking is not really that surprising. Nonetheless, we have the money and some persuasive people (we wouldn't have gotten Clark without those two factors), so we're not completely hopeless.

At any rate, that is nothing more than an unsubstantiated rumour. It may well be true, but it's not reason to give up.

No doubt this has been a rubbish season.

I personally dont' think there is anything you can take from the last few matches of the year - as some teams are playing for something (finals) and others are just looking forward to the holidays.

But I don't think it's ok to knock an opinion because some people soely want to look at results. There is nothing wrong with analysing the team structures and the team adressing the fundementals and not soely focusing on the final reslut, when everyone who wasn't a one eyed dee could see the FREo v MELB result was already sorted

Posters here will say what is the point... need to win games blah blah no [censored]........ but after such a [censored] year you need to focus on something and when you follow a crap in-experienced team as we are do you need to focus on little wins otherwise you will become sad asses who all they want to do is drown everyone in their negativity.....

There is nothing wrong with this thread discussing about structure and fundemental improvements from the year. I think most people on here know the team needs to get fitter, stronger and inject some more talent and dedication to the list

We all know the players/team have preformed below expectations this year,

We all know there is questions on their commitment and lack of experienced leaders

We all know the leaders we have are not up to standard which is why there is a 19 yo and a 21 y/o captians

We all know they're not fit enough which is why Craig and Mission were employed

We all know skillsand attitudes from some are poor which is why the list needs to be turned over

We hopefully realise there is 10 - 15 young blokes this club wants to build around but unfortunatly they're all young blokes and need time, coaching, and experience - we need to accept that we only little wins at the moment....

I also know that some MFC players haven't raised any interest from other clubs............... but if that is genuinely true it is something the MFC needs to be held accountable. And reasons why should be aired not just wrist slashing assumptions

No it is not. But it is time for us all to look for bigger problems and demand they are fixed rather than applauding little ones. That has been my point all day.

I agree and I hope and prey that that is why Neeld, Craig and Mission were employed - I hope it has been addressed

This is why i disagree with all the blind hate - we need to focus our fury on something but I am hoping the coaching/conditioning has been addressed

They're not mutually exclusive. We can simultaneously work on removing the bigger problems (whatever you think they are) whilst noting that we have things to be happy with.

I should clarify: to a normal human, they aren't mutually exclusive. To a dim-witted pessimist like you, they probably are.

I know one player who wants to come to this club.....Jack Viney.

You watch Jack, Jones, Clark, Howe, Tommy Mac, Grimes, Trengove lift the fitness intensity.

There'll be no cancelling of time trials with these blokes leading.

Agree. Let's get rid of the rot. It's up to the players you have named to lift the standards of this club. Those names and hopefully Jesse Hogan.

The way people on this site believe hearsay and innuendo - as long as it's negative - astounds me. Player managers won't talk to the MFC - yep, they don't care about their clients and MFC $ aren't worth as much as other teams'. Mitch Clark didn't want to come to the MFC - he was kidnapped and drugged.

Get into the real world. Neeld has a plan and a 40% fit team wasn't going to cut it. Next year they'll be 75% AFL fit and the year after 100%. Until then, harden up as the coaches, core kids and newcomers build a team and culture worth following.

Look we all know it's been a bad year but to say there have been no positives is insane. Neeld and the FD started the changes this year and it will continue through the off season.

Those we we were unsure about who have not performed can be looked upon as positives, they will no longer clog the list and will be replaced by hungry kids or players from other lists.

The days of getting a game at this club on reputation are gone, a very small culture change that should have happened years ago

Pre season wont be such a shock this year so you know what your going to get when you rock up boys after your break and Neeld will not be kind to anyone turning up with a bad attitude or out of condition.

From here on in after the cull this becomes his list and now the heat will be on Neeld

It's not a question of accepting rubbish - it's a matter of trying to see progress and understand what the club is doing.

No. It's a matter of keeping sure the Club is on Notice.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
