Does anybody know where and what he is up to these days?

He was on Marngrook on Thursday night. He was given wraps by Ronnie Burns for the work he has done with young players back home. Looked fit, and they said he looked fit. Wona said he had been training hard and hadn't given up hope of being re-drafted into the AFL. Great to see him on the show.

Was at training on Wednesday apparently.

If Aussie is ready to play AFL and is fit, than it a definite yes please, for the rookie list from me......

It was disappointing when he left, but everyone handles life's hardships differently. Cant say i would be super keen for much after losing my father. If he can put in some effort between now and then, and is best available then he is more than welcome back imo.

I'd love Aussie back.

Knows how to kick a sausage and brings genuine excitement to the crowd and his teammates.

The small forward position is screaming out for a fit Aussie.

I agree. I really hope he can come back. The excitement of Aussie and Liam were one of the things that made me fall in love with this team.

If there is a slight chance this man could play AFL football again, I would be all for a rookie spot. Skillful, enigmatic and a great celebrator after a goal! Would bring a smile to my face!

If Wona wants to get back into the AFL, I'd be all too happy to see him playing - for any team, if not for ours.

Wonder if Neeld sees him as a chance to fit into his game plan. Like the rest of the team, he'd be put through a gruelling pre season, which is not easy to do if you've had a year off AFL level footy. By the fact he's turned up at training, it sounds like he might want back in.

Did he participate in training or was he a bystander?

Not sure on Wonna. Loved the theatrics. Was never fit enough for Bailey's game plan. He is a mile off Neeld's demands. He'll need at least 2 pre seasons to get in shape. He is coming from a long way back. No harm in trying again. I reckon he will struggle for a rookie spot...anywhere

His fitness cannot be much worse than Sam Blease's, and Blease gets a game every week.

would he be that small forward we crave ?

he have to be fit....really fit.. But he DOES have the talent and footy nouse.

There are NO more rookie spots supposedly anymore from 2013 isnt that right ??

Hed be a gamble. That in itself doesntl preclude him, just acknowledges what i.

I would love Aussie to be back. I remember in one of his last games he looked super fit and his arms were massive. We need a small forward and he is it. I'd hope he could do it for the long haul in terms of a pre season and starting out at Casey and learning a new gameplan.

Agreed, the boy can play & is intuitive, but only as a rookie, after proving some pre-season tests & requirements for hunger of the workload.

i miss aussie and would love him back but we need to get realistic guys.. this is Mark Neeld we are talking about! do you think aussie's efforts last time when he left the club impressed him?

is he playing footy these days? hows his year been?

if you want a small forward ross tungatulum is ya man!

But I bet if he was Irish or played basketball we would give him a shot. If Marty Clarke can return and play good footy Aussie is a shoe in. It drives me nuts when a Irish bloke gets picked up over someone who can play footy here and now.

I very much doubt he could come back, but if there was even a somewhat realistic chance I' d jump at it. I have a strange & sentimental attachment to Aussie.

Agreed.

80% of the time I was there watching him .. er train? (most times he was injured or lacked fitness) he was about 4 kegs over weight.

If he struggled with fitness under bailey, he will have a cardiac under Neeld and Co. No doubt about his talent, more worried about applying himself.

If he has his head in the right spot now, wouldnt hurt to give him another crack. Then we wont die wondering.

He did his hammy quite a few times and that, homesickness and his father's passing all combined poorly. If he has found peace about the home issues and his hammy problems were fixed by the fitnes crew, then the 'problems' behind his weight have been addressed.

Steady on CFH us Irish boys come from good stock and are fairly hardy

Seriously though, Wonna is an excitement machine but dreaming & saying are very different to doing. One thing to look fit but to be AFL fit is another matter. If he wants to play would not be against letting him do the pre season with us and let him prove how much he wants it.

If he can get through the pre season with dedication I will intrust Neeld & the FD to make the call in the best interests of the club

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
