The wooden spoon could seriously be ours

Recommended Posts

I heard all that talk in 2008. It was unsuccessful. I prefer the good old hard work theory myself.

We have Viney stitched up for next year. I would prefer a few more wins this year so maybe a few footy jumpers are sold over summer.

Funny, I reemmber you saying something like the good picks from the losses are your christmas present.. You didn't seem to prefer the good old hard work theory back then lol!

I would suggest Viney in the second round is a lot more beneficial to us than whatever a win over GC would bring.

Yeah but GWS have $cully who's ripping it up with 9 possessions to three quarter time, so if he continues with that form GWS will win easy.

So far he has had 303 disposals plus his 9 make 312.

If he is earning a Million this year. My quick math says that's $3,205 a possession.

Who cares if we win meaningless games vs GC AND GWS.. it won't improve our culture one bit... imagine if we didn't have to use a high pick on Viney.. this draft would set us up for years to come if we nail the picks:) or even blow one and nail the rest::) haha i am happy to lose sorry to be honest here

Yes i did say that Sloonie, because i knew what the club was doing. If you are going to do something, do it right.

But it didn't work. So i prefer option B.

Is that ok??

It didn't work because we chose poorly.

Option A is a guarantee that Viney is second round, whilst first two picks are top 5 prospects. At this stage of the season I prefer option A.

Shaw saying that Primus is a very 'honest' man....wtf does that mean?

Tony Shaw wouldn't know what that means.

Sheedy just proved his point, he is smiling in the box because he is justified.

Sheedy is sending a sign to the Melbourne Football Club right at this moment.

This is a great day in the life of Kevin Sheedy.

Great, so when so many people like myself take their kids to the footy tomorrow and we roll over again I then have to plead with my own children to stick with the club. Even my kids ask why should I barrack for a team that always loses? I couldn't care less about top draft picks I care about winning.

Well said Cowboy. Kids don't know anything about draft picks.

They want to wear a footy jumper to school.

Agree 100% CFH

What is it people don't understand.

This club is hanging by a thread when it comes to member support.

Winning is what makes great clubs

Winning = players wanting to play for us, players wanting to be traded to us, members signing up with us, sponsors signing on with us and kids going to school in an MFC jumper. It would also really help my tipping at work.

It's what we all want.... at least I hope you all want it as much as I do.

No one will care if we win. The question is 'who will care if we lose.'

I think it will be the final straw for a lot of people.

I would prefer to see my team win the next 5 games and make a statement! I don't give a [censored] about high draft picks! I would rather use a high pick on Viney then lose to expansion clubs that we should easily beat. IMO Viney is worth pick 1 because he will bring something to the club that it is lacking in spades....MONGREL!! Having a crack 100% of the time week in and week out! You tell me the last time the MFC or any AFL club has hd a 17 yr old has gone up against a 200 game premiership player and made him look 2nd rate? End Rant.

So not coming last will be ok in the minds of the lot of people you speak about? If I was one of those fickle types that is looking for a final straw, I'd be long gone already.

Success will cement members, finishing 16th is far from success obviously.

Being able to do whatever you want with this draft, as well as Viney in the 2nd round would set us up for years, Mr Fickle and his kids will be back wearing shiny new jumpers with picks 1 and 2 on the back in no time.

We're in a good spot draft wise anyway, but I fail to see how anyone wouldn't want to be in the BEST spot.

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
