What a joke if Melbourne offered cloke 7 mil for 7 years that's ablett territory he's worth no where near that much ! We could get 2 awesome mids for that, he misses more goals than he kicks anyway

Two awesome mids that wanted to come here?

Yeah, didn't think so.

We didn't. It's obvious to me that that was a stock standard 'story plant' by the Cloke camp.

I don't think Cloke will come to Melbourne, because he signed with GWS last year.

I have no evidence, but it makes sense. Cloke Snr and Grubby cooked this up to avoid another $cummy situation. GWS deny any interest, while DC frustrates the Pies at the negotiation table leaking interest from other clubs to the press. The media will take any bone they're thrown, they're easily manipulated so they lap it up and run with it all year, then GWS swoop late and the story is Collingwood couldn't get the deal done and GWS trumped all comers at the last second. Reputation a bit bruised but intact.

I reckon Eddie might have got a sniff of it, called off negotiations and started signing everyone else up. That's why he's not in full whiny biaatch mode about the shitty compensation for free agents, he knows he's got $cumbag like compo in the offing.

Interesting theory. But why go to such lengths to frustrate Collingwood if you've got a deal locked away? Just do what $cully did, put everything off and say you "just want to concentrate on your footy". Done.

I'd have my money on him joining Mick at Carlton.

Neeld just said in a persser to the question of 1.1 mill for 5 years.

No.......no no no no no -we didn't put that out there.

Does that clarify the situation?

Or do we trade Mitch Clark because he is injured B)

Carlton is an organisation that does not like or tolerate failure.

The power brokers there will be livid when they do not make the finals this year.

Unlike the MFC their idea of a rebuild is the time between October and March.

They have no power forward.

They will move heaven and earth to get him.

The pies have a fight on their hands and they know it.

Their only saving grace is if Cloke continues is poor form.

Then the likes of Carlton might get cold feet.

Not sure I agree with all of this, OD. If Carlton were still the organisation that you suggest they would have sought a player to replace Fevola three years ago. They didn't. They haven't and they won't get Cloke either.

I think carlton see themselves as just So Close, but Not Quite Right. And with Judd nearing a walking frame, they're desperate for their missing pieces.

1/ The Coach - who is it Malty or Leigh?

2/ The reliable Tall Key Forward?

Talk about Cloke & Dagger ! But who's gonna wear the Cloke, & wield the Dagger? The good Dr? Who?

Incorrect. The 7mil/7year 'offer' was actually refuted by Denham as ever having been made by Melbourne.

He definitely said he "knows for a fact" Cloke won't come to Melbourne. This was prior to the 7mil/7year bit which he refuted (as I've said above).

He was unequivocal. Cloke won't be a Dee.

So ... to whom do we turn our attention now?

Denham always has a crack at the MFC, because it's good for ratings and SEN love this Melbourne hating character they created.....

He defiantly said he knows for a fact that Cloke won't come to the dees...... No big deal, I'd prefer Stanton anyway.....

  • 2 weeks later...

This I don't agree.

Sylvia, Moloney, Jamar, Viney (coming soon) and Trengove(another year older), McK(tagger beautiful) will get it down there.

My favourite part is when you didn't mention our best midfielder in Jones.....LOL

The mail is .... Operation Get Cloke is hotting up at the Deez.

if cloke goes to GWS...can pies get Ablett/Scully like compo ?

Because the only way GWS can beat us. is with money...so therefore pies could argue GWS have secured Cloke...the same way they secured Scully...by dangling a big bucket of cash. and not under free agency rules.

Wow, that drew some interest!

Sources are sources boys. But let's just say we're in there having a red hot crack.

Whether we land this big fish is another matter altogether.

I've been to-ing and fro-ing on it ... but I'm now back in the camp that hopes we do. We need a game changer.

indeed! said this before, but another key forward strengthens the entire team, allows rivers/garland to return to the backline, removes the need for a NQR tall (spencer, martin ect) as back up ruck to jamar, and pushes the defenders on howe/jurrah/clark down a notch too!!

if he stays at pies, there is something fishy going on $ wise!!

Another stat on Cloak is that he is Collingwood's No# 1 for putting the ball into the forward 50.

While not a midfielder, he gets alot of ball wide outside 50.

Him and Clark alternating in this role (the other deep) would cause headaches for many defences.

I thought the recent press on MFC fundraising to target Cloke type acquisitions was a clear indication of our intent.

Your mail is old news its been hotting up for a long time now and we have been in there for months and months, if not longer. :)

This plan was hatched long, long, long ago. Just like a few other little plans we shaw come to a fruition last year - hatched long, long, long ago. B) Its pure poetry in motion.

The theatre of modern football.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
