Yes, I think that is the case.

It's on between us, Carlton, and Freo.

Freo because they have nothing post-Pavlich, Carlton because they need him to get near a flag (haha, Juddy couldn't do it), and us because we have much more money than relevance and would like the former to attain the latter.

Not that I want this to happen, but I reckon he will be better off hiding out in Freo. Collingwood supporters would probably lynch him if he played for Carlton.

I have no idea of the right answer to this, but when is the last time a really star player switched between Carlton and Collingwood? I bet it doesn't happen often...

Not a player but Greg Swann was a big move. Swann > Malthouse > Cloke ? That would liven things up!

So what is our A forward line? Clark? who else? Jurrah I wouldn't include as one injury and his out for the season + off field issues. Watts I wouldn't include as his now a backman. Howe runs around in the mid-field now to bolster it.

Have you wondered why Howe is even there at all ?? To FILL in.. He would normally be playing 2nd or 3rd fiddle on the fwd line. He was recruited as a forward.

Why would you NOT consider Jurrah as a prime forward, that s what he is. Arguably current situation may negate this , but ftm he is a fwd. He was our leading kicker in 2011 !! Clark.. Was in form and likely to give the Coleman a crack until injured. Hes still not far behind Cloke for this season...still !!

Ive said, and im not alone we need that smaller forward to balance out he attack.

I dont see Clark, Jurrah, Howe, Sylvia ( as a flanker ) as too b bad. Garland will get better. Martin can play as FF..put Clark as CHF in a JB type role..Not missing too much.

Ive not forgotten our picks at all. I would expect tthey will pick a few mid types. But they arent all going to ready day 1...and thats the point..We need to GO come round 1 2013. We keep getting and drafting potential only to see it walk away or not be realised through lack of progress. ANy picks , save Viney are not immediate prospects, they never are.

I eould like to develop Howe as a midfielder. Nice frame, reasonably quick, finds the footy and can mark the ball (to say the least). Would see if he can become a Sidebottom.

The difference this time is that Cloke is a free agent.

He simply agrees to a deal with Carlton and walks to Princess park

Carlton do not have to arrange a trade with Collingwood.

Howe's future will be as a midfielder that can be dangerous up forward. Why? Because he can run. Neeld's on record as saying that he has the ability to be a top midfielder.

The thing that Carlton can't do is get him at their price.

Because Collingwood hold the rights to him as a RFA - they could fit him in if the salary isn't prohibitive.

We should have the room to blow everyone out of the water in the first year. Really hope Leigh Brown gets in his ear.

I still believe that Carlton are a much better chance than us rpfc.

If the offer is similar I would go to Carlton.

Much better side will play finals in 2013 and beyond.

Chance at a flag.

MFC hmm a way bit less than that

... Not a star player, but Heath Scotland has switched and was pretty servicable for both.

Jeremy Cameron is out of contract next year and has put off talks till next year. Lets get in his ear.

Would love to pinch one back from them and he'll be a better long term investment than Cloke.

OD, I mentioned switching, not trades, and I'm aware of Clokes free agent status. All I was thinking about was when players moved between the two teams...

Excellent get!

Don't worry about that they'll fit him in. Judd may pay for him himself.

They'll make space for him.

Yeah, great, hooray for Travis.

But Coll will just sign him up unless Carlton can find enough money in the first year to make it impossible for Coll to match.

I just cant help thinking David Cloke isn't so silly after all !

Carlton is an organisation that does not like or tolerate failure.

The power brokers there will be livid when they do not make the finals this year.

Unlike the MFC their idea of a rebuild is the time between October and March.

They have no power forward.

They will move heaven and earth to get him.

The pies have a fight on their hands and they know it.

Their only saving grace is if Cloke continues is poor form.

Then the likes of Carlton might get cold feet.

Funny how the mind works; i can visualise Cloke in a Scum jumper, but not in ours. I think OD may be right.

Will be a very interesting EOS !!!

I'd take Scotland in a heartbeat.

Certainly been good for Carlton, probably in the twilight of his career and would see out his time @ Carlton.

He ain't perfect either... doesn't he have a court case coming up soon regarding him and his brother beating up someone? or did that get resolved?

Yet the AFL website has gone to such a length as to superimpose a GWS guernsey on him.

Sheedy can't speak to the media without a straight face. I certainly can't listen to him with one either.

Let Gubby or SOS look at you straight down the barrel and declare their hand. Then, and only then, should anyone take it seriously.

Interestingly my wife, her family and about 4 good mates are all Collingwood . All but one arent fussed about Cloke goibg and wonder whether he can actually reproduce the form of recent years . Current form suggests that a very reasonable question . All, but one happy to suspend talks and maybe spend money on others .

Im siding with them.....only as to the opinion that is.lol

Well, if Car'ton get Cloke, they may have to shed a couple.

Gibbs? to SA? Boak > Sydney Rd?

I think we can find a better deal elsewhere.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
