James Sellar - good pickup

I still think he will be touch and go in October...

It would be great to be an AFL player for 11 months of the year but you'd better get some anxiety pills in October.

Yeah, I agree he's borderline depending on what success we have picking up FA's Trades Mature players etc

I think he just scrapes in for a second year. Could be worthwhile as a role/depth player in the short term

i'd keep Dunn & MacDonald before holding onto Sellar tbh, not really the same positions though.

If the FD think Fitzy and Cook & Davis are going to make it James might be in trouble because we can only hold onto so many talls on our list for so long?

all good points but to be honest i'm not too fussed either way

i'm more concerned about the other side of the coin and whether they can get enough quality replacements

it looks to me that quality picks in FA will be very scarce

If they could get reasonable quality i wouldn't complain if they turned over 20 players lol

of course it won't happen

He will, he performs a role and as long as he does he will stay on the list.

In pre season training he was taking marks against Clark, Frawley & Jamar.

I think he is capable but needs plenty of confidence to succeed.

He makes me nervous when the ball goes his way. Just like Warnock did. He is not a good contested mark and drops his fair share of uncontested marks.

If he could mark like Harry Taylor he would have a long term career at MFC.

Sadly, I can't see him being anymore than a bit player.

I have no doubt they'll keep him. I reckon he has shown a great work ethic and i suspect Neeld places a very high emphasis on this

I hope so. He's essentially our utility KPP - plays down back, then forward, then ruck - all reasonably effectively, and within the one game.

He seems to have a decent character about him as well. In short, a very good pick up in the 50s.

Whilst he needs to hold more marks, he always provides a contest and, at least, brings the ball down for our non existent crumbers.

Definite keep for me. He costs little, is a good backup if others go past him, is average at his roles and provides that "bigger body" that so many moan about not having.

If we are going to have big body players but lose sellar we then cannot get rid of all our older blokes. I'd prefer Seller to Bate, Rivers, Green (and Martin if it comes to it).

Keep, I see many similarities to Leigh brown at Collingwood, will surprise us all I think

Leigh Brown could take a good mark. Who know he might come up. We do need another Spalding, Ingerson or Icke type. Rivers has played the role for some years now. he needs help.

He is halfway there. He has enough confidence to go hard when off the ground. Just needs perhaps a little more composure once he is in the air. I reckon the coaching staff will punt that they can teach him that. And on that basis, they will extend him an offer.

Agree with all above, he also seems like a good honest bloke.

4 very good one grabe contested marks in the first half tonight.

Now to work on his set-shooting.

Definite keeper.

How's that comment working out for ya today champ?

Sellar: Can't kick for nuts.

Strauss is supposed to be the best kick in the team but only hanballs into trouble.

Trengove only handballs into trouble, he doesn't kick

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
