Just how good will Nic Naitanui become?

Taking off my Melbourne glasses for a moment, watching the big dreadlocked unit terrorize Carlton last night, I actually began to wonder if we may be witnessing the emergence of one of the greatest players in the history of the game.

I'm serious.

This is not a Jack Watts bashing thread. I'm a Jack fan. But sporting genius must be acknowledged.

This guy is a freakshow the likes of which the game has never seen before. And now he's putting together four quarter matchwinning performances.

I'd like to know what other posters think.

When was his last match winning performance? i like him too but i think his good games get hyped so they dont focus on his other average games personally.

edit obviously played well last night

His talents are unquestionable and his game last night was awesome. But in 64 games playing as an on-baller this was only the THIRD TIME IN HIS CAREER he's hit 20 touches. And his kicking is iffy. He could become anything but the hype exceeds his output to date IMO.

When has Jack Watts even had one?

Seriously there is nothing at all wrong with realising we got the pick wrong and appreciating the superstar that is Nic Nat

He's a talent no doubt but there is no way we got the wrong player. In time both clubs will win on this deal.

I'm sorry but how can you say that?

Even if Jack turns into a superstar in 3 years, Nic Nat already is one.

We would have at best missed 3 years of having a superstar on our list.

We got it wrong. Why as a collective is it wrong to admit it?

The sooner we do the better for everyone. Including Jack

Nik Nat is not a superstar, he has shown more than watts yes, his best is amazingly good, he hasnt shown the consistency required though imo, non at all is game winner on his day but so is Sylvia

His tackling closing speed and the force with which he dumps blokes is amazing. And he tackles to hurt.

He also has amazing anticipation and seemed to be able to gather up the pill one-touch in the wet when others were fumbling.

These are not things big men are supposed to be able to do.

Nic Nat is an athlete rather than footy player, the good stuff he does is really good, and he has a lot of room for improvement, but he often fades out of games, often doesn't really use the ball well, and his disposal doesn't have much influence. What he does do is win hit outs, 26 a game on average, and he does do that one or two flashy things that people talk about! He is an icing on the top player, rather than a cake mix player, a very nice icing to have, but icing none the less

No way. Sorry MM but you're way off here.

He's both a superhuman athlete AND a footy player. He's the cakemix, the self-raising flour, the icing and the strawberries ... all rolled into one.

He's the flash and the bash, the crash AND the dash. And he's turning into a one-man wrecking crew before our very eyes.

He didn't fade out tonight one bit. Looked like he could've gone another hour at full tilt in fact.

Did you actually watch the game?

He's a media star because of who he is and how he looks, and good luck to him.

But he won't make AA this year, or perhaps any year, so difficult to see how he's a footballing superstar.

I'm speaking about him throughout his career so far, but he definitely had a blinder today, what I liked most about him was his constant effort for the hard ball! But it's not like he plays to that standard weekly, if he can back it up consistently then he will become the cake mix aswell, but still he is a flash in the pan.

No doubt he is going to be a very good player, but I still think on the whole, at the moment, he tends to fade out of games and be ineffective through his disposal.

The journalists and commentators go apeshit and the sheep on here follow.....

he is a very good player but superstar NO

(we would be raving about our own young gun ruckman but unfortunately he injured his knee)

Nik Nat has put one good 4 quarter effort together FINALLY.......open door for the 'let's bag the Club no matter what" posters on here

Now if I am not mistaken he still has one of the games top ruckman of the last 10 years playing in the same team, so the whole burden is not his shoulders....remember that.....let's see how he goes when Cox is not there

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

The Demons were blown out of the water in the first quarter and clawed their way back into the contest but it was a case of too little too late as they lost another close one to Carlton losing by 1 point at the MCG.

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy.
