Copy of email I sent in reply to his email to members:-

Thank you for your open letter Don but reading your letter and watching your interview last night on Foxtel it was quite obvious you were shirking the hard questions and although defending decisions made no one can explain why we have gone so far backwards from last year. Let me remind you that we were one game out of the 8 at the same time last year.

The last time we won a premiership, I don't remember, I was only 10 years old. I have been through the hard 87 / 88 finals campaigns and was there at the 2000 grand final to see my dads team essendon beat us by 10 goals. I loved Melbourne and brought my 3 sons up to follow them with passion, we are nothing more than a joke now and I am totally embarrassed to think I was the one that influenced my sons to support a club that has fallen away so badly. I keep asking myself now why didn't I follow my dads footsteps and barrack for his team and enjoyed some success that all demon supporters have been starved of for so long.

I too question the ethics of doing a rush appointment of Neeld without a full analysis and question if the rush appointment was for the right reasons when it is apparent that other clubs baulked at appointing him. there has to be a reason why they did.

I bought a membership this year out of respect for Jim Stynes and also because I really believed that we had a future.

If you were a business measured by financial success and came up with results of 0/8 the board would be removed.

I can't help but think what the AGM will be like this year when you have to demonstrate some form accountability for the slide the club has made.

I loved Jimmy Stynes but gee I am glad that he is not round to see what you and the board have done to this club. Our club was screaming out for a tried and proven coach and look at the poor excuse you have delivered to the members and supporters.

If you have any conscience you should not be able to sleep at night time.

I could never barrack or support another AFL team but you have lost me as a supporter and member and I will get more enjoyment watching and supporting my local team in the Eastern Footy League.

Thanks For Nothiing

Andrew

Fearful, spineless, weak-kneed tripe.

We are not a "business measured by financial success". We are football club measured by the strength of our resolve in adversity.

If any other 'supporters' share the same view feel free to stand up now and exit the room.

I hope D-Mac wiped his butt with your 'email'.

Hmmmmm well well Lets see "fearful, spineless, weak-kneed tripe, wipe his butt with your email

Ï thought that this forum had a code of conduct how people could conduct themselves, that is why I cannot call you a [censored] or ask where the other hand is if you only drive your Range Rover with one !

I am nearing retirement and have never seen a demon premiership, I was there when Barrasi came back to Melbourne with his 5 year plan that never happened and seen many other failures along the way, far more than any other club.

If someone believes in Neeld still please give a a good reason why watching each week is an absolute joke.

At least last year although we continued to make fundamental disposal errors and turnovers, but you could see that in most games the players cared and tried, someone elxplain to me why the players show no care, or passion this year, although the passion should come from within the motivation comes from the coach, something is missing big time ????

Perhaps this is just another example of the Dees making an error of judgement and appointing another unproven coach.

I know you are hurtin demonhouse, but that email is off the mark.

Don't get sucked into all the journalists looking for the low hanging fruit and focusing in on the Demons right now.

Half of what you read from them is just made up tripe which they hope garners reactions like yours.

We are rubbish because the players are weak minded and do not apply themselves as they need to. Regardless of coaches, talent, game plans or drafting, the players need to play with pride. Even the worst sides in years gone by would once in a while cause an upset or give a side a heck of a scare. We haven't even com close this year.

I'll finish with this: if the players wanted it bad enough, we would have had a won by now.

Pretty much agree with RR. A lot easier to sit back and throw abuse when you have no idea the inside workings of a club! Not sure what you mean by Jimmie not being around to see what Don has done to the club. Jim was involved with everything last year including the sacking of Bailey and appointment of Neeld. For what it's worth I think Don is doing a great job and things will turn very quickly. This time next year hopefully we will all be laughing at this!

If our cultural pride hinges on proper usage of the word "arse," then I'm afraid we're up [censored]-creek without a paddle.

Didn't it take Demons two months from teh sacking of Bailey to appointing Neeld? I would've thought that was long enough espcially when all fo the candidates come from such a small pool i.e. ex-AFL coaches or curreent head and assistant coaches at AFL clubs?

This is the difference between Don and you he probably can't sleep at night because he is worried about his club and is working hard to try to fix the club while you just walk away to the EFL. Just remember that Jim Stynes was around working closely with the coaches and adminstration sides of the club, he was also involved in the sacking of Bailey and endorsment of Neeld.

Mark Neeld is the right man for the job,it's the pissweak players who don't like hard work, they all should don their skirts and play for the Vixens next year, they'll have nothing to fear as there's no tackling in Netball.

Under Bailey, yes we won 8 games last year but we'd win by 100 and lose by 100,we'd beat the bottom 8 teams and lose to the top 8 teams,we'd never win a final under Bailey with his one way game style.

Can't you guys see-OUR PLAYERS LOVED BAILEY'S STYLE BECAUSE IT WAS ALL ONE WAY,THE PLAYERS DIDN'T HAVE TO WORK THE OTHER WAY.

Under Neeld,it's all to hard for the senior players and they don't have the heart for it,apparently some of the younger players have adapted well and i'll take a guess and say Jones & Magner, these guys are tough and love hard work but they can't carry Moloney and Sylvia, who must be dropped this week.

We have weeded out Dunn,Bate,Bail,Joel Mac, and we only need to get rid of Moloney,Green ,Sylvia and Davey and play the kids who could be our future, the above 8 aren't our future and should never wear the Demon jumper again.

Mark Neeld is tough and most of our players are weak,it's so simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Demonhouse, this is a particularly unhelpful and unintelligent email. But then again, you posted it up for all to see, so I am going to assume that your insight matches the email.

Don is a volunteer. He gives up a lot of time to do a job that most people aren't queuing to do. In fact, he is doing a job he didn't want to have to do. And he is doing it for you. Well he was, until you decided to no longer support the MFC.

He cops media and public scrutiny on a regular basis.

You might like or not like his approach. That's your choice. If you're a member, you can even vote for him or not. But for goodness sake, it helps no-one for him to publicly trash the brand. He has lots of competing interests, including supporters, members, sponsors, employees (players and others), Board, the AFL. He is not just there to please you.

And to evoke the spirit of Jimmy in that manner, and accuse him of lacking conscience is simply pathetic.

I trust you won't be celebrating any success that might emerge from Neeld's methods, then. We won't be thinking of you when the Jacks finally raise the cup.

There is a way to disagree with what Don is doing as President but its certainly not asking him how he sleeps at night.

The email was very poor form.

Don like everyone here loves the club and we should at least respect that.

I was at the game Saturday night and at half time Don came down and sat with the supporters.

You could see the pain on his face. He didn't hide up in the chairmans room, he was there with us.

Disagree with him on what has to be done but respect him as a fellow supporter who is actually trying to do something for the club.

I wouldn't include Bail amongst the ones to go. With the right coaching he could become a very good player.

As for the OP, what did you hope to gain from publishing this? A chorus of "hear hear!"? If you want to ditch the club, go for it. But save the big song and dance.

You are ready to sack him after just 8 games at the helm? In his first year, Bailey had 3 wins; from Wiki:

"Season 2008 started badly for Bailey, the Demons losing their first six games by lopsided margins before winning its first match of the season against Freemantle in round seven. Things did not get better, as the Demons lost the next six games, however they won their second game in Round 14 against Brisbane. Then they lost the next five games and won their third game in Round 20 against West Coast. Melbourne Finished 16th (last) for the Wooden spoon at the end of the 2008 season with 3 wins and 19 losses."

Yes, if we win games this season they are likely to be against opposition like GWS or GCS, but take into account that we now have a much much younger and less experienced list, we have almost entirely new coaching staff, we have had numerous off-field distractions and we are attempting to implement a game plan that is completely alien to the team (did Bailey even have one?).

I am of the same vintage as you and have been waiting just as long (my father also actually supported Essendon after having been a St George supporter in Sydney), but it seems some of us have a little more patience and understanding than yourself. Sorry, I have to agree with RR's assessment (he is also of a similar vintage, by the way).

I will admit that I also responded to the email sent by the President, but mainly to emphasise that the problem is with the players, and that I would be 100% behind any submission to the AFLPA if the club challenged the assertion that 92.5% of the salary cap be paid to this playing list.

Flippancy??!!??? Please show us where there was so much as the smallest trace of flippancy in the OP's email. It was an ill considered and blatantly unfair assessment of McLardy and Neeld. It deserved the responses it got.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
