This friday we take on the Hawks under lights on the big stage. With GCS & GWS playing this round we could easily find ourselves in last position after this round.

Need a big effort from the lads. A win would be nice, but i'm just hoping for a 4 quarter effort that does smash our percentage below whoever looses the new kid on the block derby!

As an interstate member i don’t often get to many games at the G. Where would people recommend that i sit for a good view and to be amongst the MFC faithful?

Watching Hawthorn on saturday night was a hard thing to do. That list of players trusts each other. The MFC list does not.

Have our players learnt anything since the Round 2 2011 smashing?

Doesn't look like it. To be bottom of an 18 team comp when one side is playing its first season is beyond disgraceful. I doubt GW$ will win, but in a way i hope they do. So this whole club can feel shamed into ACTUALLY improving & not just talk about it.

Pity we delisted Shane Valenti. We could use him next friday night.

I must admit I have a hatred for Hawthorn, really the only club in the AFL I really Hate. This stems back to late 80's, then into the 90's and has been really highlighted over the past 5 years. To me Hawthorn are our school yard bully, they pick on us, intimidate us, bash us and their ex president had no problem sinking the boots into us. I remember 5 years ago walking to the MCG, Dean Bailey's first game as coach, Cale Mortons first game as player, we still had some old names on our list that gave us some hope that 2007 was just a bad year these guys are good players we keep them fit and who knows maybe back into the top 8. 15mins into the first our year was over, they smashed us, they distroyed any confidence our players had and this was the start of the rebuild. We realised that for our older players that was it and more concerning we didn't have anyone coming through.

Last year I still believe that our second quarter against the Hawks was the best we have played in 6 years, again hope at half time that was destroyed by the 15min mark of the third quarter that was the start of the end for Dean Bailey.

If there is any week I would love our team to go down swinging it is on Friday night, I don't care if players miss weeks through suspension, we have to stand up to our bullies, someone take to Buddy he struts around like Mick Jagger when he palys the team he once barracked for, the Chucker Sam Mitchell puff his chest out and seems to know that he can drop the ball throw the ball and will never be penalized against Melbourne. Jorden Lewis plays like he is 10 foot 2 agasinst Melbourne, Roili has feasted on us, their young kids Brucest, Smith, Shoenmakers, Suckling and co are in on the bullying.

I hate Hawthorn and I can't wait for the day when we finally stand up to them

I'm not sure... which pub is it that most here frequent? ;-)

I don't think it will be the 10+ goal drubbing that Harcourt is suggesting, but I think it would be the height of optimism to believe we could win it,.

Hawthorn learn from criticism and do something about it.

The MFC look for excuses.

It will be exactly the same as Round 1 2008 unless our list looks each other in the eye and says "F$&@k that...no more".

Gate 3 - and if you want to be sure of being in a sea of red and blue call the club to sit on the second level - it'll cost you but you'll be among your own,

I think we'll be beaten but probably by about the same margin as by Geelong, I don't think they are better than Geelong and we are playing them at the G not down at Skilled Stadium.

I'm dreading this game more than any other game this year. I will be happy if we get within 10 goals.

I am trying not to think about it. When was the last time we got near them ?

2010 midyear we looked good then the rain came down and I think we only got done by 21 odd points

See what Hawthorn have even done to us loyal MFC supporters they have smashed us into submission. The Yellow and poo brown supporters will walk into our MCG on Friday night knowing they have us beaten on and off the field. Hawthorn started our rot and it is the time we stopped it.

See, we can't even recall when we last beat those buggers. Beyond tragic isn't it!!

If you'd taken them at the line-bet over the last 3 games, all-up, you'd now have 7.08 times your investment.

This week the $1.92 line has them starting 48.5 points ahead of the Hawks.

It is, but I can't recall when we last beat Geelong, Collingwood, Carlton, North.

Besides Essendon and Richmond the only other teams I remember beating are St Kilda 2006 final and Western Bulldogs in 2007 the most selfish game of footy we have every won, if we had lost that there would be no Nick Nat v Jack Watts argument we would have them both.

Would be nice if both Gibson and Hodge missed, which is a chance. Clarke could bag a few.

Me too! Hawthorn give me the absolute s@&$s!

I really want to see Rioli crunched, Buddy get a corky and our big enforcer Mitch really ruffle a few egos.

I really want to see a contest!

if we get within 12 goals i will be happy, we just can not compete with the hawks, they simply have our number and are far too hard and skilled for us

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
