Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

how does trengove get out of this!? has been very very ordinary!

I cringed when he pulled out of that marking contest in the last.

Sure if he got injured I'd have spewed, but really bad look for a captain.

I was all for going with youth but I don't think Trengove is coping with the burden.

Another disasterous aspect of this season.

Stop!!!!!!!! This was our best performance for the year CLEARLY. Seriously, we played the game out and, you know what, Morton was ok. Some of you need to get a grip. It's as if you can't wait to bag the crap out of your own side.

I went into this game telling myself that, as long as we weren't blown away in any single quarter and were somewhat competitive for the whole game, I would be happy. To that extent, it wasn't that bad.

But boy are our skills poor (even taking into consideration the wet conditions). We managed to dominate reasonably large sections of the game but not put on any scoreboard pressure, because we can't put chains of possession together. We either screw up our disposals and turn it over, or just kick it down the line to a contest. A combination of poor skills, non-functioning game plan and lack of run and spread means we barely accumulate any uncontested possessions, so we are working harder than the other team, for less output. We are making a rod for our own backs.

What's the chance we could start hitting team mates with handballs under moderate pressure? Or with kicks under no pressure at all? WIthout doing these simple things, we'll never get chains of possessions happening.

On the positive side, Bail finally showed a little of the form we know he is capable of (we need his run and spread desperately), and the Jamar/Moloney show was back on display (well maybe not a show, but a movie-trailer). Howe was again amongst our best, and would be going ok in the B&F tally so far. Bate continues to show he deserves a spot in our best 22 (the fact that he is currently one of our second-tier midfielders says a lot about our current onball brigade). Rivers was just plain excellent, particularly in the first half.

Neeld's decision, together with the dreary kicks along the boundary line. Trengove is 20 or so. No way he should be burdened with the responsibility.

The coach is a loose cannon. All mouth and drama and surprised when it blows up.

People can talk cattle all they want. Melbourne of 2011 would've beaten that Doggies outfit, that's how bad the dogs are. We also had the emotional drive. To lose that is shattering. To look at the rounds ahead is depressing.

Stop what? We played Footscray and had 90 less possessions than them. It is not acceptable.

It's just disappointing we are loosing and not getting games into youngsters. All these draft picks are sitting on hospital beds and not on the ground. I could deal with loosing if we could get more than a handful of games into Straus, Gys, Gawn, Cook etc. Where do we go, play our 'best 22' or play the 'let's play the kids' game again?

I know we got destroyed in games last year. But I was actually sitting in the stands today wondering how in the hell did we beat the likes of Adelaide and Freo by 100 ponts last year?

How did we actually string together possesion? Get it forward to kick goals? Gain momentum?

I seriously can't remember, because I am seeing many of the same players out there, but they are not playing the game I love.

The state of our club is exemplified by the fact that Joel Macdonald keeps getting a game.

The moron can't kick the ball to a stationary target 20 meters away in the heart of our backline.

Disgrace.

Joel's disposal was shocking today, as it has been all this season, and he needs to be dropped. We can't carry players whose disposal is so bad, especially with the other guys who are currently there.

But, Sharma, show some respect for players who pull on the red and blue, will you? "Moron"? Really? How would you feel if Joel Mac walked into your work when you had an off day and called you are moron? Keep the comments to his play, not his person.

For what it's worth, Joel's attack on the man and ball is second to none, and I wish his second efforts were replicated by the rest of team. I just wish that he didn't need so many second efforts due to his fumbles and poor disposals. ;)

We had our best passage of play in the 3rd quarter that lasted 15 minutes or so where our intensity was the highest its been all year.

Its like they werent thinking game plan too much just willing themselves to win every contest.

But that dropped off in the last and although we were still competitive , we lacked the edge we had in the 3rd.

Coach still finding out about his players.

We really need Grimes,Pettard, Sylvia, Jurrah, Gysberts, coz we lack that class, and these 5 are in our best 22. Also we need either of Blease or Bennel to come on, because we lack speed.

Even Troy Davis i would play ahead of Macdonald. Tapscott and Tom Mc Donald need to find form in the twos.

Bartram is a big worry for me, got killed by Dahlhaus, and to me has been our weakest link, as its always his man that is the most damaging .

But overall i wasnt as gutted as previous weeks.

Why you little, did you think we were better this week than last week?

Look the team had a dip no doubt. But our skill level is terrible, and we played a much worse team this week. So my answer is line ball decision tbh.

I was really proud of the absolute tenacious endeavour of our team today. They absolutely threw themselves in.

That's how we managed to only lose by 20 -odd points despite being overwhelmed in possesssion of the footy.

In fact, if we'd kicked straight early, and they'd been twice penalised in the forward line for failing to dispose legally, resulting in goals, we'd have beaten them.

Somehow we stayed in touch despite them having the ball 100 more times. I think it reflects the way our guys gave their all. If our supporters didn't notice how hard and fearlessly our platyers went in, I reckon they weren't watching very closely.

Also, I reckon the sombre pre-match function would not have helped our players to be in a positive state of mind. It had to be done, and was well done, but I felt it left us with a "flat" feeling.

FWIW, Morton had the highest Dream Team score today for the Dees (96). On Supercoach, he was third behind Rivers and Bate.

21 Disposals, 4 marks, 6 tackles (only Jordie had more) and 1 goal 1 behind. Not bad on paper - though those glaring mistakes don't look good either!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
