Could we trade him to them?

if we got nothing it would get his salary off the books

I assume your talking bout Davey Old Dee.

I'd set him one more challenge for the next 6 weeks and see what he's got.

Mid field outlet/run with man (not forward or back.....mid field!). Set KPI's/benchmarks. He meets them and performs and hopefully finds a niche late in his career, or he doesn't and ends up down at KC...maybe permanently. At least we know we tried everything and gave him every opportunity to turn things around.

Unfortunately RN I think we are flogging a dead horse.

It aint there anymore.

I am really tired of watching the same performance week in week out.

It is time to cut our losses with this guy.

Blease needs to be given at least 3 to 4 more chances at half back before demotion IMO.

I doubt it. Neeld dragged him at 3/4 time and what do you think that means???

If you take Neeld by his word then Davey on current form will not last six quarters. Dont you think he has ben set KPIs with both Neeld and Viney/Bailey. He has been given every opportunity to turn it around.

If he does have credits (I dont think he has) he is burning them up very quickly.

Good result for the mighty Falcons.

Better keep taking your 4 year old to see West Perth he has a chance at some football joy

in his life.

I think the dees are a lost cause for the rest of this decade

Unfortunate thing old dee is the 4 year old has picked Subi as his side, which I don't mind to much(played there in my younger days not 1sts but we lived in their zone), but the 5 year old follows East Perth, so he follows the Pies & the Royals if he wasn't the spitting image of me I'd be asking the wife some questions. He turns 6 on Wednesday so hopefully he'll get a brain as a present. He is still a Dees member though

Well at the very least PSd you have children that think for themselves and make decisions.

If you achieve nothing else your children will turn out to be good citzens.

Good luck

Jamar got votes in the Age today

Saw that too - Nicholson must have been watching from the bar - he may have been credited with hitouts but where did they go - we really got killed in the ruck & around the stoppages - only players who gave us anything were Magner, Watts, Frawley, Jones, Trengove and Martin who tried very hard all day. The rest did not fire a shot

A promotion to the leadership group maybe? I heard Neeldy dragged him to tell him the good news

I'm sure they have, otherwise they wouldn't be doing their job. But i'm specifically talking about a new role....as an outside mid specialist...and that's it (a la Burgoyne). Eg., "This is what we want and expect from you 'for the team' over the next 6 weeks (or whatever). It's this or you're off to KC for a very long time or maybe worse mate". That sorta thing.

You're no doubt closer to the reality than i am in your assessment. I just saw "something" there on Saturday, however brief and yes it was offset by other poor efforts i realise. But while there's life...there's always hope....at least till we can find a classy outside mid to fill that much needed role....IF putting him there happened to work that is. And if it did work and he turns his career around (a la Neon Leon), hec he's only 27. What if we got 3 more good years if he performs or maybe even a better trade next year if he doesn't quite get there but at least redeems himself to a more respectable standard? Better than what we might get value wise right now.

6 weeks. That's all i'm suggesting. No harm in trying surely? Who else do we have waiting in the wings that could perform that sort of role?

This season is going to be a circus with our senior players running around with huge chips on their shoulders. Today of all days was when they needed to step up, and they point blank refused.

You do not know this. It is unfair.

Posted

Neeld. "Brent your job is to extract the ball often at the stoppages & give it to a team mate who is in better position"

"If that doesn't happen you do not play"

I couldn't care less if he is [censored] at not being in the LG. he is a worker. Sooner he embraces that the better.

Exactly. Really ordinary effort - the epitome of looking like Tarzan .. he's built like the proverbial brick s.h. but gave us nothing in and under..news flash - taggers exist !!!

Green and Davey... put a fork in them. Sad. Two great demons. But they're done.

To be fair, the delivery into the forward line was a joke. Long bombs to Clark who was double teamed all day. Structurally, we had nothing in the contests which makes it hard, if not impossible, for those looking to create opportunities. They need to work out the setup - waiting for Green (or Howe) to take a speccy is not a plan, nor is expecting Davey to be a bullocking workhorse.

I think there is great harm in playing someone who does not have the mojo for the game. Great message for the other players and a drain from a senior player who was once a club leader. I dont think we need another "outside specialist". We seemed to have enough of those on Saturday. We have a good need for competitive small forward. Davey and Blease both failed in that role. Davey came to the game with a couple of special assets. The disappointment is that he is unable to develop some other assets to give him the ability to extend his career. Like I said he cant burn too many more tickets.

I'm thinking more to stick to the 'master plan'.

If you want the players to learn the game plan then it would be advantageous to have the parts working to as close to optimal as possible. To do that, you would have to get the best at what they do NOW so the rest of the pieces can learn their roles too. If the under-developed were in there, the actions, reactions and adjustments would be different to the original plan.

Very good if your building a high performance V8 engine. Put all the parts in & fire it up.

Footy some don't want to work at they're weaknesses but rather trade on their strengths. They avoid the stuff they don't like, so should be forced to do it @ Casey. Head over the pill @ Cranbourne.

When they come up with the desire to do the hard & dirty work, the & only then do they deserve the Jumper.

Nice summary.

If i can just add..... I would bring Dunn in for Green.

We also need other 'run with' players to go with Priddis and to rest Barty off Kerr when needed. Maybe we sacrifice Moloney (if he has the legs) or just rotate Moloney/Jones/Bail onto Priddis as well as onto Kerr to give Barty a rest as required. Barty can't be expected to counter Kerr all day, just too good and so strong through the bod and hips. The other option might be education. What better way for young players to be shown where to run and how to position themselves than rotating off Kerr to assist Barty. I'm thinking Bail and Magner here. Big ask and no doubt we'd lose on the match up (probably lose no matter who we put on him) but what have we got to lose, and they'll gain plenty from this.

There's an Ironical twist. & as a twist I like it, because Brad certainly won't. that Will make it sting.

We need to add Rivers to this list, IMO he is done, it is unfortunate but the tall forwards are to big for him, he can't play on leading forwards and can't play on mid size as the are to nimble.

Its been a while since i've seen the lads win a game at Subi thats for sure.

AT Subi we are going to need speed and height Sellar probably Petterd certainly .Blease maybe should get another crack.

Maybe Morton for Rivers . The uipside is that Martin and Clark may have enough room to fit together.

Green may be time for a rest. Davey should have a chance here. Moloney has to be fit and fired up if he's to play.

Fair dinkum- if I see Davey in the seniors again I will dead set spew! He is past it and it is as simple as that. His sooky demeanour makes me want to break stuff!

As for Moloney and Green I'm reconsidering my want to have them dropped for this weekend. On one hand they deserve it, on the other I want to see if they can make ommends against an ultra-competitive outfit in the Eagles. I don't want to see them come back against the Tiges after pulling their finger out at Casey- I want to see their desire against a top 4 club on an away trip.

Davey Green & Moloney should spend the next month at Casey. Not one week, but 4. Do they REALLY want to play seniors again???

I'm willing to give them one more chance, I'm willing to put the round 1 effort down to... hell- whatever. A pass. My main reason to not drop them next week is to see how they right their wrongs against one of the competitions best- where there will be nowhere to hide. I want to see a bright spot light shining on them. I want to see if it was just a mental hangover from the dire leadup. I want to see if Green really is as disgusted with his performances as he said he was on whatever tv program he was on and I want to see them fight for our club and take some responsibility.

I don't want to see our kids thrown to the wolves, I want to see our seniors (barr Davey) stand up and I want to see it now.

A repeat of round 1 perfomance and they can spend the rest of the year at Casey for all I care and never get the privelidge of stepping foot on the G, or another ground for that matter in our beloved dees jumper!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
