Funny this was raised. I went to last years intra club game and Beamer gave a young fella (can't recall who, could have even been a Casey top up player) an all mighty spray. From my, quite close, vantage point it seemed unfair and was by any standard well out of order. During that same game he drove another young fella into the ground and was generally mouthy to all and sundry.

Hardly positive leadership was my thinking and i reckon this trait may be one of the reasons he isn't in the LG ...

Harsh on Beamer. Just putting positive pressure on junior players imo.

Moloney is the first to go in to bat for his team mates in the real deal. True team man imo.

Spot on Demon 16.

I did not like Davey's body language. Lawrence could be very good - showed good acceleration and tackled well.

In regards to Davey his knee could be worse than we think and his attitude mght be reflecting this. I think this is his last year in contract and if he continues this attitude it will no doubt be his final year.

The coach has told him what he wants him to do and if he doesnt do it theres the door.

Lawrence could be his replacement n the F50.

2013 I think.

Hard to take a lot out of the game in terms of individual performances, but the big thing to note was a lot of long kicking to forwards in the forward line.

I hope Melbourne don't stuff around with the ball like the Bulldogs have tonight, shocking football.

That and the fact he appears not to be the sharpest tool in the shed, which is in contrast to this years LG if their interviews on dee tv are any guide (which seems to indicate they are a pretty thoughtful, reflective bunch, not a bunch of pumped up yobs)

IMVHO, Beamer needs to perform against top sides before he berates juniors on their lack of skill or performance.

Sure he has done well, against those few sides below us, but first things first.

Were bound to a little bit as we adjust to a Completely different gamestyle and club really. Everything has been turned on its head so IMO we can expect some unsmooth games for the first 6 weeks or so.

Not losses, but struggles.

I think you guys are talking about past years when not all players were happy and on the same page about how our young players go about the game. a product of the past skilled possession footy running it up the corridor. The footy Envionment may not have suited all & sundry last & past years. And Too many airy fairy plays with No hard contact. Bruise Free,,, remember that Quote!

Fast forward to a Competative hard playing hard tackling side,, & I for one think Beamer will be More satisfied with proceedings.

Remember, the Doggies also have a new coaching structure.

The dogs were appalling and I dont think it had to do with structure. Intensity and skills even for a preseason game were poor. Their forward line without Hall was completely dysfunctional. Even though they won a game they have clearly been the worst looking side of the first six.

One of the big concerns for the Bulldogs was on many occasions when they had the ball they straight away looked sideways, they didn't even want to know what was ahead of them.

Thats right I'm sure, but when a club targets the semi finals they don't want to Be UP,,, too early,, and then peiter out of gas at the business end of the season. I've seen it time & again that In February/March, strong clubs flop about in seemingly meaningless pre season form only to get stronger when IT counts.

Don't write them Off.

Now where have I seen that before?

Think of it like dancing with your sister - you want to look good, but don't get too physical.

Disgraceful that they had a camera crew at the ground and managed to patch in about 15 seconds of the boys running around inbetween shots of little kids ... for shame MFC would've been nice to see a little bit of actual player footage.

I believe there is a strategic reason why they didn't want to post footage of our game online for the whole world to see.

I know it wasn't a closed training session, but you still don't need every club and their dogs sniffing around, picking apart moves, tactics and game plans.

Perhaps not but it would have been great to see some edited highlights of the game. As we move increasingly to an online, muti media future media such as dee tv will need to actually start producing some real content, not just silly interviews with our newest supporter from the US. Already clubs such as Man U, et al have 24 hour pay tv channels and whilst it is fanciful to think we would have something similar at the very least, in the next 2 -3 years, we should expect to see some serious online visual content (eg proper vision of training and practice matches, video analysis etc)

We also seem to have a sert play to use the pace of Watts. A few times he pushed up to the wing and the 50 cleared behind him. They ran a quick transition out of defence and bombed the ball into the space for him to chase, burning his opponent and running into the 50. Someone has already mentioned the pinpoint left foot pass he made off one of these plays.

Look away now Clint.

You're the one who should be worried with all the long kicking the team is going to do to forwards in the forward line (as per the intra club game and training). It isn't "modern football".

I'm a nervous wreck ...

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
