Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

For me I have to say Trenners, but I reckon it will be a close fought battle between him and Wattsy. For smokey I'm gonna roll with Petterd. Probably won't be a popular selection, but if he can learn to play at his best consistently, the we have a real weapon there.

Watts and Trengove will gain plenty of Brownlow votes in the future 3 seasons barring injury . Frawley to just get better .

A week is a long time in football let alone 3 years look at the Cats from around 2001-2003/4 promising kids who now have become elite Scarlett, Ablett, Chapman, Johnson & Bartel not to mention other quality players from that group and 5 years ago around 06 who were Pendlebury & Swan

I think Jurrah will walk a bit smaller with Clark in the team...

Easy to argue the opposite, as Liam will be up against the third best defender with Clark and Watts likely to get the bigger defenders. That said, it would be unlikely the team would go through him as often as last year... Depends also where he fit's into the Game plan, perhaps he'll be used like Krakouer at the Pies, or running back into space, or leading out of the goal square, or on the flank...to state the obvious time will tell and his class will prevail...

Given he can be so damaging, especially in bursts he's a proven weapon.

It was a joke, an irony.

You see, when people say a person will make another walk taller - they mean they will progress and do better.

I was mirroring that sentiment but infusing it with a ironic twist as Clark being in the team will mean Jurrah will do a number of things that 'smaller' forwards do, such as crumbing.

Hence, 'Jurrah will be walking smaller' is to say he will do well, but do it in a literally 'smaller' role.

I've heard the saying that if you have to explain jokes extensively then they are not funny.

I do not prescribe to this idea.

Trenners and Watts equal best.

Interesting thoughts on Jurrah- he definitely has the skill set to be able to play the small forward role- and seeing as we don't need him to play tall he could spend a lot of time at the feet of others. What other options do we have at the moment? This is a move I would make if I was coach.

Its hard to go past Watts and Trenners but I have a huuuuge man crush on Frank Grimes.

I remember snippets of him playing in the centre during NAB cup games and he reminds me so much of Jobe Watson. Hoping he can better him and become a full time mid. So he is my number 1 in 3 years.

Also have heard him speak and agree with everyone that he is great to listen to and even at such a young age has an aura.

In 3 years: Jamar/Gawn taps the pill down the throat of Jack T, Jack G & Jack V to hit Jack W lace out.... deelicious!

Smokey, Max Gawn. Did some great things in his couple games last season. A year of a Pizza & Steak diet with a lot of big weights and watch out league!!

Smoky for mine would be Clark. Just dawned on me we're going to have Clark, Watts, Howe and Jurrah- all capable of a grab in our forward line next year. Exciting times!!

Yeah we got it- it just wasn't that funny..

I have to say i thought it was funny - and actually i reckon quite accurate. With Clark, Watts, Howe, Petterd and Green we have a surfeit of marking options. LJ will have license to go for the odd speccky but also be there to swoop on the crumbs - just like Wiz. When you think about he would make a pretty frightening "small" forward and dam hard to match up on too

Elite players in the comp are Judd, Abblett, Goodes, Swan etc

I dont like when people break down elite into sub catogories

That's not my definition, although I agree that there's no official AFL definition; and even then it's subjective. Judd/Ablett/Goodes are super stars. I equate elite with genuine A graders. Right now we don't have one genuine A grader. Frawley and Jamar had A grade years in 2010, but one A grade year doesn't make someone an A grader. Although I have no doubt that the former will soon be rightfully called one and I'm hoping that a few others reach that status.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
