There is an interesting note this morning on the MFC web site re the AGM.

It notes the meeting will be addressed by Don Mclardy, Cameron Schwab and Mark Neeld.

No mention of Big Jim.

This does not sound good or am I adding 2+ 2 and getting 5

You are spot on..Jimma will resign tonight.

Just arrived. Don McLardy paying tribute to Jim who gets a standing ovation. Jim had another operation today and specifically wanted to announce that he's stepping down tonight to fight his own battle. He told Don to let everybody know that he would see us all in round 1.

Russell Howcroft announced Don will be elected as President at a board meeting after the AGM. Guy Jelland & Peter Spargo are the VPs. Greg Healy will be the new football director.

That's it for the AGM. Everybody who contributed in the past was recognised and wished well including Dean Bailey, the players off the list, the doctors and others who have left the club.

Meeting closed but don't go away folks because there is another meeting to come concerning the footy part so it's inevitable we're going to get some more of Cam Schwab's shpiel on the red and blue print.

Nice speech from Cameron - he deserves more credit than what he's given. Also thanked Jim and acknowledged we need to take some important steps forward after a disappointing year on the field. Our integrity was questioned and we took the opportunity to rebuild the football department with a new coach and others who we have attracted. The playing group has significant potential and we have great determination as demonstrated by our president. We've ridden a few bumps and that's part of life in our competition.

We wanted to be the first club to appoint our coach and appoint a team around him - Neil Craig and the other new appointments to give our players the best chance to build great careers and our team to be judged by its results.

Mark Neeld - challenged the players requesting an elite work ethic and elite compliance. The reality is we're one of 18 clubs doing the same thing. We will by round 1 have done enough work to be able to compete.

We've changed the players' footy world. It's a footy university and the players are at different levels. New coaching group, new game plan. Mark Neeld can't guarantee where we'll be but we won't die wondering.

Leadership group selection process is difficult, tough and thorough. We'll pick the leadership group prior to the commencement of the NAB Cup.

Introduces the new players - starting with Mitch Clark. Neeld has a specific role as a key forward.

Tom Couch - strong inside midfielder.

James Magner - big arms.

James Sellar - tall, big, mature age.

Jai Sheehan - went to the same school.

Rory Taggert - great first impression at draft camp - inside mid.

Josh Tynan - has made a big impact. Fairly hard at it - needs to work on his hairstyle.

Leigh Williams - strong aggressive forward line player.

I'm shocked some supporters seem to be disappointed there was no sponsorship announcement...

When has a club ever announced a major sponsor at the AGM??

I don't think that anyone was expecting an announcement on who it would be.

A couple of words from Schwab would have been nice. eg 'we are in the final stages of a sponsorship deal'

Not that I really care too much. I have faith that we have something in the pipeline.

Just back.

Schwab did say when asked about sponsor that they were very confident of signing another major sponsor who is Chinese based close to deal BUT no signature yet

Went after talk and and asked Cam Schwab about the medical staff.

He said that a team of three doctors have been appointed and would be formally announced in the press soon

I also asked about how the seemingly complex off field structure was organized .The response was that each person had a defined role and that their job was to perform that role but specifically

Neil Craig reports to Cameron Schwabb and interestingly Neeld reports to Craig.

Also not sure if reported thatGreg Healy is the new Football director

Exactly. Wasn't expecting an announcement. Just some news on the progression.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
