Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I used to rate him...

Seemed to be a bit of a kid in a man's body. Not really great at anything... good at a lot though. I remember when Gibbs came through, he was being spoken of as a #2 pick... til everyone realised he was good because Gibbs made him good.

Unbelievable pickup- huge risk but worth the punt.At least body would be right for a genuine go at it until someone like a Cook is ready.I' d say will play CHF with a back up ruck man possibility Could also play CHB.

CHB will be his position I think.

We could try all day to get him as another tall forward/ruck but I don't think he's up to it and we already have Clark and Martin to go with Watts, Cook, Howe and Jurrah. Even Tom McDonald is thought of as a forward possibly more than a defender.

It's an interesting decision but remember there weren't kids picked up after Sellar, mainly just rookie upgrades and a couple of more late recycled picks like Stephenson and Wilkes.

Not a big risk, considering pick 54 is a very low chance of finding a superstar 18 yr old, particularly in a very shallow draft.

I just don't quite see what role we recruited him for?

Is he meant to be a ruck backup? Jamar, Martin, Gawn, Clark, Spenser suggest not

Is he meant to be a backup key defender? We've got Garland, Rivers, Frawley as starting 18 players, with Tom McDonald and Troy Davis developing. Not a need.

Is he meant to be a backup key forward? We literally just traded in Mitch Clark, with Watts (196cm), Cook (196cm) and Fitzpatrick (200cm) developing

I think the the most likely scenario is that Neeld is desperate to have a really really big crash-busting key forward to fulfill his gameplan. He went out and got Mitch Clark, but wanted another big framed key forward as back-up in case Mitch Clark goes down, or even to form a double-team big key forward due.

Clearly, Neeld does not want Watts, Green, Jurrah or Petterd to play at full forward as the number one target in 2012. It really was a weakness for us in 2011. With Clark and Seller, that will never happen again I guess

For those who value his opinion, the Wiz (Colin Wisbey) rated him as the number 1 delisted prospect out there (although he had high raps for him before he was drafted if my memory serves me correct).

He is big, he has talent. Maybe a fresh start is just what he needs. Anyway - price is right.

On Bigfooty RandB makes an interesting points...

"Only thing I can think of with Sellar (besides a possible Neil Craig influence) is that we will struggle to delist players in a couple of years who have their best clearly behind them. I.e. we have a young list and there is no point taking on more kids simply to cut them.

Instead of a kid at pick 54 who may take more than 2 years before we even know if they're any good we rolled the dice on Sellar who we'll know about quicker. If he doesn't cut it we simply ditch him in 2 years and free up a senior list spot for a better pick rather than wait it out on an unlikely kid at 54 for 3 or 4 years only to find out he isn't up to it and subsequently clog the list"

I'm thinking key defender to take on Cloke.

If Cloke is the best CHF in the league and Rivers can't handle him then maybe we need a new CHB, or at least some depth in the area. Sure we can just roll Frawley on to him but Frawley is such a natural full back.

Either way Casey would be rapped with the selection, especially if he'll get a run down back.

I think that'll be the way it plays out,

Looks like Neeld wants a Cloke/Dawes type combo and Sellar was never going to beat Tippett, Walker and failed as a back.

Rivers is not a KPD. McDonald seems to be slated for a FWD role and Davis is an unknown qunatity. I'd also argue Garland isn't really a KPD either though he can play as one. I think we do need a KPD.

Having said that I was surprised with our pick-ups this draft. I would have liked to go after 3 midfielders with the hope one of them will make it but I guess we have Viney next year plus our two comp picks. But I think we really need to start bulking up our midfield depth as the only potential A-grader we have at the moment is Trengove.

If he can rediscover the form that had him so highly thought of before he was drafted, we might just get the bargain of the draft, if he doesn't well it was pick 54, wasn't it.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
