Could he be a chance to be in the red and blue again, maybe as a rookie...again.

I'd like to see that, sentimental old bastard that I am.

mate i play division 3 footy and nathan ablett would struggle there hes terrible, its amazing how a great side can [deleted] like a half decent footballer, perfect example collingwood and chris dawes, imagine no cloke and chris dawes one out...... on a great day against GWS at the G he'd be lucky to kick 3. So glad we got mitch clark and not that spud, id prefer fev then dawes....

Rubbish. You've got no idea.

I've played with Nath Ablett and he has all the talent in the world.

His problem is that he doesn't have an angry bone in his body.

He's just too nice a kid. No mean streak whatsoever.

I put it down to his old man becoming a born again Christian when Nay was really young.

Unfortunately to succeed in the AFL you need to have more than just a desire to play with your mates - you need an abnormal competitive drive.

This is what he lacks.

Surprised with Aussie after the perceived disinterest in reviving his career. I thought he blew his last chance with us. Is he going to be rookied by us or is there some interest from another club?

So being in a christian home makes you soft?

Geez, maybe thats why I'll never play AFL.

No Newton? Maybe he has got the message finally. I wouldnt be surprised if we take Aussie as a rookie. But I guess its up to Mark.

Poor shot at Newton. What was his offence? Did not make it at AFL level. Had a go at AFL but not good enough. Shame on the bloke.

Yet you entertain the thought of giving another chance to player who walked out on the Club and has been indifferent at fulfilling his obligations.

Like Nasher I would be surprised if we rookied him. I am surprised he nominated for the draft.

I suspect Aussie's manager has persuaded him to nominate on the basis that he has a change of heart and presents to the medical people and makes a serious attempt to get fit ahead of the rookie draft.

But time is running out!

To me it doesn't make sense. I really don't know what's going on but the Bruce scenario is starting to creep into my thinking. If we rookied him it will be inconsistent to the new approach that MN has been talking up.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w
