Firesale at the Saints

Seems that they really needed to get rid of some cap space last week and didnt.....Only player i would be interested in is Gram but he is contracted atm so dont see how it can happen, they obviously cant pay him out either. farren Ray is the other one but is said to go missing at times, would be an experienced big body in the midfield, we obviously have the cap room and who says he gets a game unless warranted? could be worth looking at.

Also Dempster, Dawson, Peake Blake, and Polo all of whom i wouldnt consider at this stage

Ask Dave Misson who we need and Target them....The Saints will deal.

The AFL have put them on notice, as i expect they thought they would have thinned their stocks last week.

Garage Sale Time....

how do you deal with the saints when trade week is over?

I'd have thought if there was anyone contracted that we want we would have targeted them. St kilda would have been bargaining from a weak position which determines price.

Why pay when they may become free, especially when they are out of contract, similar to what North look like doing with Maric

Exactly....Wait until they ask for help...and then the Bargaining chips are on our side....Right now you wait in the shadows doing the Maths....

At 25, for the right $$$ I would get Ray

The Saints having to squeeze out a whole bunch of middle of the road players because they cornered themselves with the salary cap is not really that interesting to me. Unless they're going to squeeze Riewoldt out then they can suffer in their jocks. I couldn't be less interested in their middle tier - reckon we're just as likely to get what we need in the draft.

There are good players at the Aints with September experience.....Buy very carefully and a useful player could come our way...The fact we have the Aints ex Fitness man now working for us give us Golden insights.

Dee listings Daisy, Dee livering.

Draft or Pre season or?

Ah, so he meant 'saints players' directly, not 'the saints'. The op did imply 'the saints' though.

Anyway, carry on

Wasn't Farren Ray the fourth pick in the draft Sylvia (#3) and McLean (#5) were taken? I reckon he'd be a good pick up for the right dough - would definitely add more depth/grunt/experience to our midfield.

We need one or two players of Mitch Clark's impact or better. We do not need any more B graders, or even potential A graders. We have a list full of these players. Farren Ray maybe, but like Nasher said, unless they are offering Reiwodlt, Del Santo or Hayes, the Saints do not have what we need.

If you are basing his value on the 2003 draft you are using a poor and unreliable indicator. 2003 has proven itself to be definite non vintage year for talent.

He has 7 years in the system with 2 clubs. What has he done in the time?

I dont want depth in the midfield I want class. He lacks it and has much grunt as the 2011 vintage of Cale Morton.

Definite pass.

And what gem do you expect to get there in the PSD from an ageing list like St Kilda's?

I'd probably take Ray and consider Dempster and Gram. I'm worried Gram's best is behind him. Dempster might just fill a role and help set the scene in terms of courage, selfless play and work ethic. That's important stuff.

Unless were finding Goddard or maybe Dal Santo in the bargain bin, I ain't interested .

I agree wth Chook up there .

Ross Lyon destroyed that list and should be ashamed of himself .

I'm quite interesting in Dempster.

He would walk into our 22 as our best negator by a country mile. Would be our best tagger or our best small defensive defender, take your pick. He is a solid clubman, has a strong work ethic and plays the team role that is required of his.

Every team needs a midfield tagger, and at the moment we don't have one. We've been using Bail and Jones in the interum to teach them some lessons, but we don't want that next season.

Dempster is the one who would interest me, wouldnt be on big coin and does the team thing plays his role and the perentages I think Lyon at Freo may look at him.

In all honesty though who the Pies delist/move on like Mcaffer & Mcartney may hold more upside

The Aints board should be ashamed. Not Ross Lyon. It was the board who allowed such things to eventuate. May they enjoy the plumett. I will.

What??? He took them within a kick of a flag. If anything he got them there.

The Club and the players should be ashamed. The recruiting of Lovett, the pre season lunacy with the schoolgirl and the incredible use of Ricky Nixon as a "negotiator" for the Club. I can fully understand Lyon's fury at having his final year absolutely derailed by these circus antics.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
