Jack Watts panelist on The Footy Show tonight

So excited! Not only do I get to see a Dees Player on the Footy Show, but they are actually GOOD in the media. Loved watching Beamer earlier in the year but Jack comes across as far more comfortable (see Before the Game) and good for a laugh. Guarantee they'll take the [censored] on his Energy Watch acting haha.

Well I will look forward to it. We seem to be way down the list in having players on show like this, so I see it as a positive step that we are starting to get a look in nowadays. And Jack is great on camera, so I'm very keen to see it.

There was something about DB not agreeing with the show's methods so for the most part I believe he didn't want players to appear on the show.

Really???? That's a bit bizarre I must say. Who gives a [censored] about the shows methods, it is publicity for our club. The more shows we get boys on the better IMO, regardless of their "methods".

finally a Dees player on the panel!!

we get so screwed with the panel.. only our 2nd for the year.. then you look at Cats who have someone on there EVERY week..

Jacky Watts is one of the only Melbourne players actually born with a personality too.. (but maybe not acting skills - Energy Watch).. should be good

That's typically idiotic Bailey nonsense. I don't watch the show, but we can't expect all footy players and coaches to present to the media as dry and devoid of personality as DB.

The most annoying thing about the show is the amount of time they actually give the footy players. They sit there for the entire show and say about 50 words each. they get asked 1 or 2 questions in the intro and then their tips for the game.

If you are going to have them on the show, you might as well use them. They should do a lot more.

As much as I like before the bounce, the players on the show spend more time listening to jokes rather than speaking as well.

the amazing thing i find about the footy show is that they had that stage where Sam Newman wasn't on it, they had brownless on and me and the gf would sit, watch after dinner and enjoy.... then he came back on and we watched a couple of episodes and it became that same awkward stilted sexist show it always has been.

having said that i'll watch tonight, and cringe through the awkward penis jokes that Newman doesn't let go.

I find Newman quite funny sometimes... then he will do some really awkward joke that offends a lot of people... and it's like 'bro, you didn't see that criticism coming?'

Agree wholeheartedly with the italic bit. It is funny though watching the look on Gazza and JBs faces when he does it, trying to cut him short.

Here's to Jack raising the tone of that slop, not being dragged down to their level.

Will Damien Barrett come on and tell us that Scott Burns is a cert as the next coach again?

Gee Super, now you have made me all nervous. I actually go the news about Watts being on the panel tonight from Barrett's twitter account.

Sorry folks, the real story is that Barrett saw Watts talking to Garry Lyon and that's where the rumour originated from. The reality is that Watts was talking to Lyon about which table he is sitting on at the B&F, and if he is having the chicken or the beef.

Sorry to get your hopes up...

Cooko that may be because they have been winning Flags and we have been winning spoons!

so why do Tiges get "Jumping" Jack, Deledio & Cotchin on it

why do Lions get Browny on it every 2nd week

why do the dogs get Barry Hall, Cooney, etc on it every couple of weeks

why do north get Boomer, petrie, swallow, etc

out of all the Melbourne clubs we are on it the least.. plus I dont see why us sucking should prevent our players being on a show?

if the argument was most of our players dont have personalities then I guess that is a fair enough..

Was there?

Can I have a refresh on that?

I can't remember exactly what it was to be honest, but I do remember it mentioned around the time Beamer was on earlier this year - which had been the first time in a couple of years that there had been anyone on the panel, and someone mentioned in the thread on here that it was to do with DB.

Oh my god I always forget that The Footy Show sucks and just enjoy it for what it is!!

Then some randoms on a forum remind me that it is sexist dribble and then I just stop watching it.... Thank god people love mentioning that they don't like it so we all know and can now be further educated and grown up.

Looking forward to watching The Footy Show with the other thousands of people who do.

Well that settles it doesn't it?

Bailey is gone. No need to forward what could only be considered spurious rumours.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
