Can this be the start of a new era for the MFC

I truly believe that the MFC has ear marked 2012 as a statement year to the rest of the footy world that we are not soft and we will play finals and we will win grand finals for many years to come .

All i can say is watch it unfold before your very eyes the MFC will change very quickly and will be a totally different outfit next year .

There are moves happening very quickly behind the scenes and further announcements to be made that will have a strong and positive influence at the club .

I've noticed lately that there has been a few new posters popping up on here and Demonology with veiled news of thing to come from the club, all positive I might add, and I can't help but think that there are some people from within the club spreading the word amongst the supporters. There is nothing wrong with that and it is good to see the club get on the front foot and keep the interest of the supporters bubbling along.

On the first point I am sick of us having "Statement games" Remember the Friday night game against Essendon? We had to make a statement. Then a week after Geelong we had to make a statement and so on. The word "Statement" and "Development" are two words I don't want to hear in 2012. But please don't get me wrong I like your enthusiasm.

On the point of future announcements care to elaborate?

Haha. Huh?

Never underestimate the power of a new coach to bring renewed hope and optimism.

I know you don't think the average MFC supporter would be so inspired by an inexperienced coach with little name recognition, but I think that is the reason rather than a effort of the club to push a narrative.

You underestimate me. I don't think it's the club pushing a narrative at all, I think it's the club saying that hang on there's more to come.

I'm happy that the club has people pushing the club on the web boards and letting us know that there's more to come; that's what I wanted to hear and that's what I'm hearing.

I have been pessimistic because i could see the same old same old for next year, but if what is supposed to be happening is indeed going to happen then I'm more optimistic than I've been for many years.

If the above makes sense then that's fine if it doesn't let me know and I'll try to clarify it, I sometimes have difficulty expressing how I feel.

I will try to extract more info from my source when i see him next week.

He only comes into my shop once a week so i will try to speak to him next Thursday and get the latest.

He informed me on three issues way before they hit the headlines and was accurate on all of them but he will not disclose his source which i have to respect .

I share your disappointments and frustrations did anyone hear Robert Shaw on SEN he was very pointed by saying its all good to have a new coach with a hard edge message but unless the MFC can change it's culture from within it will avail to nothing .

GO DEES

Robert Shaw has no respect for the MFC because he has viewed us as soft and not in tune with the game of the 21st century.

I have heard him before go on about us.

In a lot of ways I have agreed with him.

Actions will change his mind.

IMO it is that simple

I listened to Shaw today as well and they never let the truth get in the way of a good rant do they?

He was hammering us for leaks at the club and in particular the fact that the naming of the new coach was leaked, well I believe it was Colingwood that leaked the name, not Melbourne. He also mentioned, or it may have been his co host, that Neeld said we are going to be the toughest team in the comp; well in fact he said he wants to make us the hardest side in the competition to beat, there is a difference but it escaped them.

He seems to get his information listening to other hacks in the media and just assumes they are true.

Culture is a direct product of leadership.

i.e the Presidnent and coach, maybe the Football Director

Let's see - how are we doing on that???

Where does Shaw think it comes from - the bootstudder

Spare me these pontifications from these sorts of people

Agree with all of this and it's pretty hard to disagree with Shaw to be honest! I am loving what I am hearing from guys like Malthouse re Neeld and very impressed with Neeld himself in the past 48 hrs. I then remind myself how good Bailey sounded when he joined us.....as u said OD actions speak louder than words. Please let this be the dawn of a new era!

I really couldn't be more chuffed with the new appointment. I'm already looking forward to a man like Neeld bringing out the true potential in our young list, which I firmly belive we haven't even begun to truly see. I'm excited about what he can do with the likes of Strauss, Blease, Gysberts, Tapscott, Petterd, Nicholson, and yes, even Morton. As his familiarity grows, so will his desire to get the best out of our young talent. I have no doubts that he will get the shopping list right, and we can plug those holes he has already alluded towards. As long as the common theme is players with a bit of grunt.

After the year we've had, it's a pleasant surprise to truly be looking forward to next season.

Who cares what Robert Shaw and the other anti-Demons say.

We've got the right person to make it happen.

Simple and hard !

Gotta disagree about Bailey HB. I remember being underwhelmed about Bailey and remaining so for 4 years.

So far I like what I'm hearing about and from Neeld and I'm cautiously optimistic. A lot more reorganisation of the FD is still required so we wait and see but all-in-all it looks a promising start

Agree DC.

I am actually trying hard not to get excited.

Long way to go yet.

When we are 6 and 6 in 2012 I will start to get excited

With respect to the op...can it ?? Of course it can. Will it ?? ahh thats where we're all getting excited, or like Old trying to resist its temptation :)

If youre going to build somehting that wil not only be purposeful but resolute in its charge to achieve then the foundations must be dug and setup right. Otherwise nothing will stil stand for long. In some bugone days ( some not all that longago ) this wasnt done right. Hindsight shows us this and things fell apart quite rapidly andwe all came back to earth with a thud, again, and again.

Idont get that feeling about the clubpresently. I think some of the foundation had to be blown out of stubborn rock as wel las dug into sticky clay but theyve be laid by a team of stubborn and doggedly persistent folk who had an ey eto getting it right. They knew this was the last time we could. Now upon this comes a fabrication of framework bult to rigid ideals.

The fitout is commencing and whilst the architecture may not present as world shatteringly fashionable it is still none the less of todays cutting edge with an audacious tilt at the modern commentary. This Edifice will over time cast it shadow over the game. There is a quiet yet bold no nonsense in its style. Irts here to doa jobfirst and marvel the sensories second. Form wil lfollow function.

You do actually get the feeling they are building something quite substantial, we just cant quite grasp the look of it yet.

I think they all know what theyre doing this time. Will this be the start of that New Era weve all dreamt about ? Its got that feeling about it doesnt it :)

The next few weeks might provide more insight to this as the secondary appointements are done and announced. More than likely another Sponsorship announcement to come as well.and then theres teh off season where success andd failures all occur without a ball ever being bounced

Make no mistake this is a bold vision being acted upon. Lets see if they can enginer it so as to work.

Must confess Im really lloking forward to 2012. Im really really looking forward to trade week and the draft.

Let the metamorphosis begin.B)

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
