Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Only problem is that Caro has got everything wrong lately. I think however that Craig will join us soon.

I'm now thinking that since we scored a massive coup in Mission, we would be better served with a Laidley (number one), Mark Harvey or even a Gary Ayres as director of coaching. We don't want too much of an overlap between Craig and Mission, in which case Craig's value diminishes.

I understand what you're saying, but Neeld seems to not put up with any crap. It's his way or go home, uncompromising. I'm pretty sure if things got muddled up, he'd walk in and fix it within a matter of seconds.

I can't wait to see what he will do to our playing list and the many pretenders and dead bits of wood that have been riding on the coattails for far too long. Take no prisoners Neeldy!!!

Wow, I am amazed that people are finding a way to react negatively to the prospect of Melbourne continuing to assemble a coaching panel of first-rate characters, loaded with experience and bringing exceptional technical knowledge.

Maybe it is just the shock of the unfamiliar?

Will we even recognise ourselves soon? First-class training facilities and multiple highly qualified sports science and high performance staff. What is this club and what have they done with the real Demons?

Good move this one. Opens up the role for Neil Craig to step into Connolly's role, and still provides for Connolly to use his mouth for the betterment of the MFC. As has been stated previously on these boards, Connolls could sell sand to the Arabians, CS too. Their strengths are of fantastic service to the club, and we are seeing that happening right now with CS. Funny what happens when they stick to the roles they were hired for.

Me thinks Gary has said a thing or two to both of 'em, and Neeldy would have said that he ain't gonna put up with any of that crap. We had a real [censored] season, but so far, the off-season (which has lasted all of 2.5 weeks) has been really positive. Plus there is still our other major sponsor to be announced, along with a few more changes in the footy department (how many bloody lives does Josh Mahoney have?), cutting loose all the dead weight of our list, plus the possible successful bid for O'Meara or a good player in trade week.

Good strides, and all this coincides with the appointment of Mark Neeld. Has there ever been an MFC coach loved as much, whose been in the job for only 4 days?

That's what i reckon...Craig's September record is very ordinary We can do better than him IMO.

The point is Craig's forte and original claim to fame was as an elite sports scientist and probably the best credentialled in the AFL in this field. We can do with this at the club IMO. Remember Craig took the crows to a top of the ladder finish in one year.

Its not a coaching or advsory role we need him for.

I agree. Whilst Craig may not be that useful in the coaching realm for Neeld, Craig would have valuable experience in developing players technical ability as well as helping them develop physically. If we can squeeze an extra 2-5% out of players physically in terms of their endurance, power & strength etc that can sometimes be the difference between winning & losing especially at the highest level. I don't think Craig as a coach would be that valuable to us however he has a reputation for getting the most out of his players in terms of preparation & fitness. When the club is competing against clubs with larger budgets such as Collingwood a person like Neil Craig would be a valuable asset for the sports science knowledge he possesses alone.

One thing That Craigy is not, and what Neeld appears to be... is a "player Whisperer". Craigy's downfall at adelaide was his inability to motivate his troops to succeed. (just look at the response Bicks got from the players when he went) He isn't a visionary in motivation but in process and results produced from that strict adherence to process. Craigy is perfect for fitness and conditioning, but i feel with MFC signing Ex Saints Fitness coach Mission, Craigy should apply elswhere. We don't need his stagnent one-eyed approach to gameday in my opinion.

BTW Why you little, Glenelg is still nice, just don't drive around here with VIC plates... they still hate us mexicans :)

HAHA, when i initially posted, i assumed that mahoney had gotten the axe too. Only upon thorough reading did i realise that he had been spared (Quick edit was necessary). Slammed the desk with words along the lines of "You've gotta be F%$#@ng kidding me" and laughing in astonishment.

Haven't asked him yet though, almost afraid to and wouldn't hear the end of it. Though if Mahoney were to go, so too would the usual "Look at Josh Mahoney's forward line" quip. Such is its repetitiveness, it's almost becoming one of the great traditions at every MFC home game on level 1 of the Southern Stand wing.

Southwark is an aquired taste... you have to acuire it, but it happens in time, i much prefer my victorian beer though!! I married a South Aussie... one decision i'll never regret. And living on the beach 20 minutes from the city (a small collection of churches) was a pretty good compromise i reckon. But once you get used to the one-way freeways and the lack of any adherence to road laws and the water... sorry, you'll never get use to the water... it's not such a bad place to live. But you DO get sick of the 2 team town syndrome, and watching live footy in the outer at AAMI with your favourite Dee's scarf is not for the faint hearted!! lucky i can say things like "least at my home ground i can drink in my seat" or something equaly as witty as that :)

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
