WYL it will not come to that, the Lions have a good offer from Freo and they will accept it before closure next week.

But the offer is not nearly as good as the one we put up.

And Yet he is prepared to risk the PSD than come to the MFC

I do not like the sound of that at all.

FMD, the PSD talk is just saying "I really REALLY want to go to Freo, please do the deal"

If he said "I really REALLY want to go to Freo, but if you can't do the deal I'll go to MFC" then he goes to MFC beacuse we're offering Brisbane more.

It's not an insult to us.

I don't think he'd seriously go into the PSD. It's just to try and force Brisbane's hand.

Although, if he's after money and wants out of Brisbane, he could go to GWS or Melbourne in the national draft.

I think it's much more likely that Brisbane will end up accepting Freo's offer at the last minute.

WYL He keeps saying " I WANT TO GO HOME"

In the end the Lions will take a good offer as compared to nothing.

It will not come done to the PSD.

You would think this, but is it worth passing pick 20 to make a stand?

I would think so, Brisbane have been the trade week goons for 3 or so years now, and now Fremantle are refusing to play ball, thinking that Brisbane will roll over,

If Brisbane let him walk it says yu wont get your player from us unless you pay for him in future

i think he's basing it on the assumption that Brissie will guarantee that they will refuse to deal with Freo, thus forcing clark into the psd and for us to collect

Correct! I am glad somebody gets my drift.

Even though it is left field & 100 rows back. Cant you see that Diablo?

So it appears Fremantle is still his choice, semi-expected as it was his desire to return home, but does this mean we should look elsewhere like Tommy Walsh or keep circling in case freo and the lions can't come to an agreement?

Perhaps just hope he might slip into the PSD?

If Mitch Clark goes in the PSD he could end up anywhere...

No he won't, he'll end up where he wants to go. First up he'll put a price on his head that will discourage most clubs (even if they could fit him in their cap), then he'll just refuse to go where he doesn't want to. Luke Ball is exhibit 1.

You can't make players go where they don't want, and for the moment, he has given strong and substantial personal reasons for needing to go back to Perth. It's got nothing to do with what we offer Brisbane, or his feelings about MFC. MFC is not in W.A., that's all that matters.

Dee's may increase there offer which maybe too good too refuse.

Mitch could have a headache over the weekend and reconsider.

Was Brisbane actually more keen on just pick 12 as opposed to 16 and 20? Surely they wanted a little extra? If not, how about our pick 12 to Freo for 16 and 20 so they can trade that on to Brisbane! :) We could sweeten it up with a bit of Maric magic or pick 90.

No I don't hope at all.

Look at what happened to Ball.

We could have chosen him but the MFC and a few other clubs did not as everyone knew he would play nowhere but the pies.

No one will chose a player who does not want to be with them.

I doubt any eastern states club would pick him in an PSD when they see he will only play in WA and salary size is not the issue.

He is going home to WA come hell or high water.

On second glance, according to The Age:

"Contrary to some reports, the club confirms that it never received an offer from Freo involving Picks 16 & 20 for Mitch Clark," the Brisbane Lions tweeted this afternoon.

In which case, my point about trading 12 for 16 and 20 is obsolete.

And good on him really. Its his desire and its not about money. Now we can hardly berate a bloke that seeks a destiny uncoloured by money can we  B)

I don't believe it comes done to the Lions or the MFC.

He will go nowhere but WA.

It is up to him

Very well put BB

Probably a new experience for the MFC

There may be someone out there who cannot be bought.

Spoke to a Saints supporter today who is a huge wrap for Walsh. Says Lyon never gave him a go. Lisle appears likely to stay a Hawk but we may make a bigger play for one or both as they would not cost much in trade. Get the feeling they are fairly keen to get that extra big body into our forward line given the offer they made for Clark who is not a true forward, but rather a ruck resting forward.

But our history of buying players is poor and when we offer more money other factors come into play.

To put it in modern parlance..... Its him , not us !! lol

I don't remember anyone we have offered more who rejected us Redleg.

Not saying it did not happen just cannot remember anyone.

We usual offer less or they prefer others at a similar price.

Am I incorrect?

The bloke seems to want to go home to WA - there's really not much more we could have done.

At least we had a crack at it.

I'm disappointed with our MD trading strategy but in relation to Clark it seems we did everything possible. It's not a poor reflection on the club as he wants to go to his home town.

I have played cards O D. I can see your point...BUT it is still a massive risk to go into the PSD rather than accept a very good Contract.

It will only take one club to say "stuff it....Get him" for your theory to disappear.

I still think we should have taken Ball....But i like to take a risk from time to time.

He would have been solid as.

Clark for a start. But yes you are correct.

Let me be clear on this, we did all we could have done to get Clark and there is nor blame on us whatsoever.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
