This belief is why we get frontrunners at the club.

It is not the bloke who performs only when he wants to - it is the fault of others?

Brent is a quality player - but don't kid yourself the way I did about Brad Green.

He doesn't play well in the games we need him the most - he isn't consistent.

And he isn't going to be a great captain.

He may be the best of bad choices, but if that is the case - have shared captaincy and give it to the kids.

So Beamer isn't trying to play well every game? Do you honestly think he waves the white flag when the going gets tough?

He's no world beater talent wise, but this season he has been expected to be. The stats I highlighted show he's doing as well as he can, with absolutely no support whatsoever. And even in those games where he's gone missing, he still has twice as many clearances as the next bloke.

So how much of his poor form against the better sides comes down to a lack of teamwork, cohesion and structure in the guts? How can it be that one bloke can have almost 50% of our total clearances for the season? Yet still cops it for going missing against the good sides who obviously put a lot of work into stopping him, knowing we have no-one else on the list who can do what he does (yet). Teams don't even consider tagging anyone else anymore. No-one should be expected/deserves to shoulder the load he has been asked to, and still incur the wrath of supporters when he can't deliver that. This "Beamer goes missing in big games" theory has only existed in 2011. He was very much a 'big game' player prior to this year.

I have a Beamer bias being my favourite player, so i may be kidding myself, but how would our season look without him, honestly? Who has led better, more consistently out there? Jones perhaps? Yeah he probably works harder, but is even more limited talent wise than Beamer is, and he is playing as an outside receiver these days, with his contested possesion, clearance, and tackle numbers all way down on previous years.

So as you say, BM's the best of a bad lot. I'm not a huge fan of shared captaincy, so out of our current stocks, he would be leading in the race. But have him in the role only for a year or two until Trenners is ready. Bit like the old Hawks model: Moloney is our Vandenberg, Trengove our young Hodge. No, he's not going to be a 'great' captain. But I have no doubt he will relish the role and lift, in the exact same way that Green hasn't. Green didn't strike me as a real leader when he was apponnted, and we all know how he's been in the role this year. Beamer's carried our midfield on his back all year, who else can say that at the club?

I likened him to the adjectives you threw out at others.

As I have said - Brent is a very good player.

But until he can get his worst games closer to his best games he will continue to disappoint.

I don't like the way you are giving him these excuses.

I am getting sick of the 'reasons' our senior players are given to not perform to an adequate level.

I suppose my line of thinking is that his consistency will improve when the young charges around him do. Excuse maybe, but until then it is what it is. Too much work in the middle, left to too few.

Why should a supposed "leader" improve when younger players around them do? Perhaps you are missing the point re: "leadership"? Leading others, particularly youngsters is what makes you a leader. Moloney doesn't do this consistently. He never will. But he will be a better player when the young guns around him improve, because they'll take his slack and the hard tag from him.

I think they should start fresh with a new coach, and a new leadership group and plan to have them both for 5 years.

Jack Grimes is my vote.

I've changed my mind amd think Green be given another year then Trengove or Grimes if he plays all year.

With a new coach coming in next year, Green will still be captain.

There is if you don't have adequate leaders to fill the position.

All our senior players are NQR - even the new Bluey winner-to-be Moloney has been a frontrunner this season.

I don't want to take it off of Brad.

But he has done little to earn a second year and shouldn't be given it.

JT plays like a captain already, but I'd prefer letting the kid play with freedom for a while without the burden of the captaincy, and make no mistake, where the club is at atm it is a burden. If we have another bad year next year, I seriously hope not but we'll see, the captain has to deal with a lot of external pressures and no doubt the media would jump on him because he'd be such a young captain.

Beamer for me, JT and Chip (who also plays like a natural leader) VC, Jamar, Rivers, Jonesy and Watts round out the group. I've take Grimes out so the poor bugger can focus on getting out on the park, once out there there's no stopping him leading by example!

Beamer has had an up and down year, he in particular has struggled against top opposistion because he is not an elite player who can shake a good tagged. BUT he loves the club, and he isn't afraid to do the team lifting tough stuff. I think he'd enjoy fulfilling his boyhood dream of captaining the Dees.

Trengove signals a new era, will always be first picked each week and is already a gun anyway. Good support from Beamer will help out.

David Dench was apointed at 21. We cannot go back to a captain at FF. Must be an on-baller with grunt and style. JT has all this.

Garland has been very vocal lately, even had a go at Chip last week when he ran them into trouble rather than kick to the first player in space.

I'm the biggest Frawley fan you'll find, but I see little things in him that don't scream captain material. He's too focused on his own game, which is fine when he plays the way he does.

I won't be happy with anyone other than Trengove being appointed. So I guess I'll continue being unhappy -sad face-

I would like Moloney, he strikes me as a guy that would walk up to a team mate grab him by the throat and tell him he is letting the team down. Brad Green had the lead from the front attitude unfortunately his form was woeful, we need an in your face do as I say person.

Vice Captain: Moloney

Deputy Vice Captain: Jones

Leadership Group: Green, Beamer, Jones, Frawley, Trengove, Watts.

While I am as frustrated/disappointed as anyone with Green's performance this season, I believe it would be pretty ordinary from the Club's point of view if they were to strip him of his title after 1 season.

2011 was an abject failure and large part of that was the leadership group.

Green must not be captain as Bailey must not be coach.

The kids have to take over the place as they are the 'future.'

But I don't think they are the future, they are obviously the present.

So get the kids to share it, or poach a captain from another club.

Agree 100% The current senior group with a couple of exceptions are deplorable.

We have no choice it is the kids or nothing.
