Why not Mark Neeld?

Don't know if a topic has been started about Mark Neeld if it has I'm sorry but I really hope our club has a chat to him. He has been at the most successful club both on and off field of at least 4 years now. In many ways he has brought in some of the things that have taken the pies to a new level. He gets glowing endorsements from Mick and also Collingwood players. Which I think could help us getting an A grade midfielder in the name of Scott Pendlebury. Please read. http://www.heraldsun...f-1226114058203 Fanasty land maybe...

This is what worries me I think I have heard that he's interested in the Adelaide job. Why not ours? Have we put out the wrong message by saying we only want proven coaches. I don't want another Dean Bailey and I understand the need for an experienced coach but if we get Rodney Eade I'm outta here...

His club at the moment don't understand how to either DO the press or BEAT the press. He has always struggled to win a big final and that's not because he hasn't had the cattle because he has, he's had some champions of the game. Also I look at his assistans and I think he builds a weak team behind him because he likes to be the strong front man with a lot of say.

Also had a mate that played under him at the doggies and said it's a boys club. Once your in your in it's hard for you to get out. If your out then he hardly EVER talks to you. Didn't even tell him he was delisted. A assistant coach did. Don't ask me who my mate is, he was on the primary list for 4 years and hated the last 3 because of him.

2 questions.

Would you like Mark Neeld?

Would you disappointed with Rodney Eade?

Yeah I reckon he is the one to go after. I reckon we need someone like him. We dont have to go out and get a senior coach. Malthouse will be at the pies next year, Clarko will stay at the hawks and I dont think Rocket will help us. I like him but I think we need someone who is an assistant at the moment. It has worked with Chris Scott at Geelong, although he does have a talented list to work with.

But mark has had years of experience under Malthouse and even Bucks. He would have learned so much at collingwood and knows how to structure a premiership team. Anyway im sure there are others that will come from left field.

A dual role I think we need - someone very experienced such as a Pagan or a Laidley with a Neeld as joint coaches would be great--

A senior for strategy/ tactician- Neeld for hands on player movement role. I do think Bails was very good as a on the boundary coach but was terribly weak as a tactician /game play maker. If not we need to make someone like Connolly as a tactician to assist the likes of Neeld if indeed we take him on.IMO- Neeld would be near perfect for our needs now.I was at the Collingwood match against St Kilda in the media area just behind Collingwoods bench at Etihad Friday night and gee I thought he was fantastic the way he controls him team.

Neeld has definitely interested me. Would prefer Mick Malthouse.

The way things are going at Port, I'm wondering if they will be entering the coaching market.

My order of preferences:

Malthouse

Neeld

Burns

I agree on Port, HT.

I think they're beginning to realise that they made a mistake, hurriedly appointing Primus after a few wins.

But then again, they may keep him as they have bigger problems.

Haysman is gone, and now the SANFL is trying to get rid of Duncanson, so that the SANFL will have full control of Port.

Losing the CEO, president and coach all in the space of a year can't be good.

Pagan? No thanks... Been out of the game too long and was disgusting at Carlton in his last years. Wouldnt mind Laidley to help but not senior

Carlton in Pagan's last years made the VFL look good because of a lot of the salary cap breach stuff, remember that.

Nevertheless, agree on the too-long-out-of-the-game stuff.

1. No - We dont need another assistant Coach - Note Daniher & Bailey

2. Yes - I don't think Rocket is the correct bloke. Experianced premiership success as a Head Coach is non negotiable

To me Neeld would be our No 1 Target.

He has been given massive endorsement from Premiership coach in Malthouse and Premiership players.

To me that speaks volumes.

This man is ready to coach now. Geez he is experienced and coaching the best midfield in the land.

Bring him on.

Plus comes with no baggage.

First time coaches are fine, Look at Scott & Hirdy

Why settle for the apprentice when the master is likely to be availiable in October?

Bailey was an assistant at Port and Essendon and both clubs won premierships. Bailey - lovely bloke and all - was a dud coach. Todd Viney was an assistant coach at Hawthorn in a premiership year. Too early to make any call on Todd but Melbourne don't seem that different in the past 2 weeks. Proximity to a successful coach doesn't mean an assistant will be successful. The Scott twins are clearly 2 bright blokes. No need for Neeld. Do agree with the opposition to Eade. Fifteen years of failure. Melbourne has enough baggage without adding his.

Yes, anyone but Rodney Eade, he has had 12-13 years as a coach and not done much, his teams always have a soft side and are never quite good enough. If we get Eade I'm outta here too.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
